... shoe. The rangers have anti-poaching duties all winter but travel ONLY by dog sled, camping at log cabins every 10 miles, dating back to when the road was built, 1923-38. The cabins have been maintained to the standard as when they were built. One area of road fronts a favourite area where Grizzlies eat soap berries. Here, you cannot leave the road to hike for 5 miles, or else pay a huge fine, in case the Grizzlies fancy an alternative snack! Apparently, a grizzly can eat ...

... haven't opened their eyes yet. Our next exciting first was a boat trip on the rapids of Nenana River in the evening from 6-9pm as it stays light so late here. It was so much fun & we did get wet but not saturated as we ...

Thurs ...

Free day at Denali - Rob and I decided to live life and booked a white water rafting trip, starting at 7.30. What a way to start the day with a "glacial facial" it was so incredibly cold, of course my dry suit did not fit me on the neck or wrists so the first rapid we hit I got smashed and freezing water inside my suit! It was fantastic and we would do it again, even Rob who is normally cautious loved the adrenalin ...

... truck. As I was filling the truck Jeff notices a sign. Understand, outside of a gas station, a small motel and an RV campsite that's all that makes up Healy. The sign says brewery 100 feet away. Jeff and I started laughing. Yea, probably a trailer next to the station has some guy brewing his own. We finished filling and drove into a beat up trailer park and at the end of the park was truly a micro brewery and restaurant. We felt obligated to going in and seeing what ...
