... my favourite shows I have been watching is Alaska Railroad and Mary and her husband still feature on the show and are now in their 80s. Even better was when we passed their house, Mary was standing at the door waving to the train. I bought both her books she has written, describing her life starting out as a homesteader and how the seasons change in the region. The train trip took 9 hours. Then went around the exhibits learning about how the National Park was established, it's early settlers and wardens official and unofficial, and it's human and other animal residents as ...

... Denali is closed down and boarded up for the winter. The rafting guy works summers at Denali, and then on the oil rigs at Prudhoe Bay for the winter. Lots of people seem to have a summer and winter job.. We now have wifi - at a place near Fairbanks - Chena Hot Springs. Can't get it at our pretty basic campsite... With trillions upon trillions of mosquitos.... So are sitting at the activity centre. We were in the hot springs earlier and it was lovely. It's outside ...
