Historical Traveler Reviews of Asmali Konak Hotel - Turkish Mansion Istanbul
Nice, clean and friendly
from SimonRotterdam
A very clean, tastefully furnished suite with a excellent bathroom. Very comfortable and quiet. Authentique atmosphere. We slept well and had a very healthy ( a lot of fresh fruit) and tasty breakfast. The owner advised us to let our car there in the shadow and he brought us to topkapi palace with his own car. Friendly people and we will sure come back next year.

Carino, pulito ed accogliente
from SimonRotterdam
Gente accogliente, e sicuramente ci ritorneremo l'anno prossimo.

Friendly Family Hotel
from StarmanAntalya
Very friendly and helpful staff facilitated a lovely stay in the Sultan Ahmet district of Istanbul. Ideally located for walking to Blue Mosque, Haija Sofia. Sulamaniye Mosque and the Grand Bazar.
Breakfast served on the rooftop terrace started the day off on the right foot.

Keith e Sonia Larsen
Affascinata dall'Asmali Konak
from boncuk07

Loved Asmali Konak
from boncuk07
I loved the charm and decor of the room and hotel in general which was decorated in period style of that era. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Great breakfast spread in the mornings! Fabulous views from the terrace of the Sea and the Blue Mosque. Had all the necessary amenities.
Great place to stay in Istanbul, which is close to most historic sites. I highly recommend it.

New and Clean!
from hippodrome
Asmali, run by a lovely family with experience in the tourism industry, is one of the newest additions to the plethora of hotels in Sultanahmet. Just a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, the hotel is located on a quiet residential street near the old souk. The
rooms are large and clean, with good light and Ottoman-era reproduction furniture. Bathrooms are spotless. Air-conditioning is quiet and effective. Staff is lovely - service here is 5 star! The roof terrace is spare (could use some plants and shade umbrellas, like the terraces visible just across the street) but offers a fabulous view of the water. I was only able to connect with wifi (apparently throughout the hotel) from the first floor. Aside from the restaurant and roof terrace, there are no public spaces in the hotel, but who wants to hang out in a lobby when Sultanahmet is at your doorstep?
A good address for a family
from JossFrance
My wife, 2 young children and I spent a week in Istanbul and slept in Asmali Konak Hotel and keep a great souvenir. The hotel situated in the old town of Istanbul (Sultanameth) is only 5 minutes on foot from the Blue Mosq and located in a calm area. The rooms aren't very big but quite sufficient for a family of four people, a super bathroom and a very welcoming and kind reception. The hotel is a farely narrow building and has many steps to go up, in particular to go and have breakfast. A good address, a reasonable price and what we
call in France "un bon plan".
OK, but not great
from clikk
This was one of the last hotels we could find over Easter in Sultanahmet. We booked a twin room but were given a room with a double bed and a fold out cot bed. On the second day, without prompting, we were moved to a room with twin beds. The rooms are large, with extra seating space, and all freshly decorated. The location is also within easy walking distance of Sultanahmet's sights. However, our second room had a nasty drain aroma about it, which was on some occasions masked by the constant smell of cigarette smoke drifting up the central stairwell from the hotel office at the bottom. However, my main issue with the hotel was noise, from the central stairwell, and from the breakfast room above us, so unless you are up as early as everyone else, and to bed as late, you will be woken by the noise. Otherwise the hotel was fine but nothing particularly special. Breakfast is fairly standard, with cereals, bread, meats, tomatoes, cheese etc, but no fresh fruit or juice.
