Rijeka
... and a public holiday. We wandered the bare streets and took photos of the typical political buildings, many churches and landmarks, including (another) ancient Roman arch. From there we headed on up the 800 steps to the castle overlooking the bay. 'twas arduously long and exhausting, however a daily occurrence for some people who's housing is accessible along some of this path. Lakes and the seaside
... for a guy holding his thumb out in the pouring rain, we picked him and his mate up. The pair that turned out to be Polish changed their plans and accompanied us to the lakes, chatting away the whole way.

Malinska snorkelling!
... but with toxicly orange pasta sauce which we then all had smeared round our chops for the rest of the day)
Time for a wander so strolled round 'town' for a bit and bought a proper snorkel. Woohoo time to test it out so back in the sea!! Got to see loads more with the snorkel in place, even spotted a cool electric blue swordfish eel type fish and a load of sea cucumber things.
Once shrivelled like a prune we headed back to camp to sort out dinner and chill ...
Croatia here we come!!
Had super omelette for breakfast n a chilled out morning before taking the bus back to Ljubljana ready for the train to Rijeka- Croatia!
The train stopped on the border for some police to get on and check our passports before rolling off again. Woohoo Croatia here we are!!
