We were invited out with some of the staff on Tuesday night to Laowi Town to a quiz night which was good fun. We then met Silvie, the CP at Munchner Biergarten, the German bar on Wednesday and the Italian restaurant Thursday evenings.

Ningbo is a lovely city, built on 5 rivers, so was a trading post and from the hotel room you can watch the barges go up and down the river. There are loads of fantastic bars and restaurants and it is now quite trendy.

Trying to get a scooter to do what you want in the rain, under the influence of ethanol laced with coke and Bacardi , takes skill and stupidity. ... sit by myself and cry for 5 hours. My host mother then told me that we were going on a trip to DongQian Lake. I had no idea what that was but was excited that we were finally going somewhere. When we got there, it was a mad house. There were SO many people there to celebrate the holiday. We walked around and I was amazed at how beautiful the scenery was. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. We walked a bit further and bought incense for prayer, or xiang as ...

... I started walking in the direction of where the bus had dropped us off (about a mile and half I'd say) and just took in the sights.

The wonderful thing (well, one of the wonderful things) about West Lake is that while there are plenty of very crowded areas, there are also many small quiet places. I saw the Seal Engraver's Society, which held stone tablets of various shapes that have written on them the oldest surviving examples of ...
