... up. People were already trying to get on as people were getting off. Yes, it was chaos. Plan was put into practice: 1 person fought way in (yes almost literally!) grabbed seats, 1 person stood by door and hauled bags in and the other three formed a line and then elbowed their way in. Worked perfectly. Seats for everyone and sufficient space for bags!
Had a very good 2 and half hours talking to the locals. Family going back home from Diwali ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India carole91... for the DVD, next year.

The Tibetan people were very welcoming. Several wanted to talk to us and display their command of the English language. They were a joyful, energetic people, who appeared very strong for their small stature.

After our walk through the temple, we elected to hike to a local waterfall near the edge of town. It was a nice hike along the canyon through the mists. As usual, Barb pressed ahead, as I huffed and ...
Mcleodganj, Himāchal Pradesh, India thomasgillam... on time and some 2.5 hours later we got a flat tire. The bus then stopped for some 45 minutes while the tire was changed and they fixed the old one. We were off once more. The bus ride to Dharamsala was rather uneventful after that. We arrived in Dharamsala at around 6:50 PM. We went to the back of the bus to collect our bags and discovered them to be completely covered in dust and dirt. Eyal held the lid up while I removed everyone's ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India athena... link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmandir_ Sahib. The temple is in the middle of a lake and simply breathtaking. To go through the temple you must cover your head, leave your shoes outside, and walk through the holy lake water to cleanse your impure feet. If you are a man you can then bathe in the lake which is supposed to have special healing powers. We walked through the temple and I noticed everyone had these dry leaves with goo ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India k0e0n0z... cooking class. We made three different kinds of veggie Momos and then chocolate Momos. I have the recipes and I promise to cook a lot when I get home! Two people from Israel were in the class with us and we all talked about Obama's victory and how happy we all were. They were a little hesitant, but were happy that Obama won and hope everything he has promised will come true. Even our Tibetan teacher was overjoyed. Let me tell you first hand- the world is so happy and so ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India faceFrom my journal:

In Mcleod Gang 9 or so kilometers from Darmasala. This region and in particular this town is famous for housing the Dalai Lama and his court while in exile. Not too mention inhabiting many refugees fleeing the Tibet from Chinese persecution. Everywhere you walk in this town you are reminded, through posters, and merchandise and conversations, about the cause of "Free Tibet." From my few interactions ...

It tastes absolutely disgusting, but I do feel a bit better today. Hope all is well with everyone. I know school just started for CPS so I'd like to wish everyone luck this year. I know some of you from Harper have not found jobs yet so best of luck to you in your venture! Take care... peace, Jen
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India jeneggener... sipping a strong rhododendrum and pomegranate tea and listening to a load of hippies banging on their bongos and trying to sing. It was a Wednesday night, Wednesday nights in England were either netball or mid week benders with the workies and instead i now spend my evenings drinking poncy tea's and washing bras with pan scrubbers!! Oh and it gets better, Helen has fallen in love with a monk, i think she is in fact infatuated-she has even talking to ...
Mcleod Gang, India limi07... every time I go to town or my hotel. Beyond obviously improving my strength and balance the yoga has helped me to develop some much needed confidence. I've done some things with my body in a short time that I did not know I could ever do. The yoga studio is conveniently placed on the top floor of the hotel. Hossi's room is next to mine and at the corner is the room of Lalit and Ivana. -break- Last night 12th meal with 3 beautiful ...
McLeod Gang, India sonicbridges... that Pierce Brosnan ate at when he went to Mcleod Ganj. And i sat in the same seat! I felt priviliged! After lunch we got our things from the hostel we stayed at and waited for our transport back to the camp. The car I was in had to wait behind for an hour for the sleeping bags, which were brought down by donkeys after we left the camp. Eventually we got back, but it was dinner time so we had to go to dinner in our dirty, smelly clothes!
