... of the day was watching how Soba noodles are made. We got a kick out seeing the noodlemaker roll out the dough (made with buckwheat flour) and then once it is the proper thickness (1.5mm) cutting it in thin noodle strips.
After the mall, we went to Arab Street and Little India. We needed to purchase a few accessories to give to Bhupesh's ...
Again this morning we were adventurous at breakfast, different this time, but including the sweet coffee once more. We walked towards the well known Lau Pa Sat Market which is a traditional food mall, but it obviously came to life later in the day. The stall holders were busy "prepping". Would have liked to have returned at lunchtime but didn't manage. Next time we’re in Singapore, definitely. Maybe not to the Pig’s Organ Soup stall ...
Singapore, Singapore hughieanddoris... otherwise gotten to see, but we generally stay away from zoos, so we weren't super stoked on it. The GIANT fruit bats and flying squirrels were a highlight. And the bear cat.
Singapore has set the bar pretty high for Asia, cleanliness wise (it's spotless), public transportation wise, and food wise, but I am sure we will not be disappointed with the next places we go. It has been a great introduction to this continent, and I am so excited for where we'll go from here!
... the motivation to venture out into the rain attired properly with untimely, urgent calls of nature. Met some nice people, though. Went out a couple nights with Dai, Michael and some other friends. Notable meal at Tio Pepe's (?), mexican resteraunt where I indulged in all the cheesiest foods I've been missing for a while. A little expensive but worth while for my sentimental taste buds. Only complaint was the lack of Negra Modelo. Last night in ...
Bukit Merah Estate, Singapore nz.chong... they serve good food (a bit expensive but you need to drink to quench your thirst after trying their "not very spicy" sauce):
We had a nice Indian ice-cream (Kulfi in Indian) with mango flavour as dessert and enjoyed the atmosphere whilst sympathizing with french ...
This explains why the flight from Colombo was so long! We've stopped off in Singapore first, and now I have to hang about here for an hour while they check the plane for bombs. I'd fallen asleep and woke when the plane landed thinking I was in Kuala Lumpur, and just automatically got off with everyone else. It didn't say anything on my ticket about stopping off in Singapore first, so luckily I woke up enough to discover where I was and not leave the airport!
... food court called Food Republic, full of hawker stalls and locals. Dishes ranged from curry, Chinese, noodle soups and sushi. The king prawn noodle dish was served on a banana leaf. Very tasty. Orchard Road is a series of big air-conditioned shopping malls, full of the usual global high street brands – Gap, Starbucks, McDonalds. Want to visit Chinatown tomorrow for a bit of variety.

... each. We had 20 kilos more than that and at 30 Euro a kilo it was unbelievable. We decided to repack and dispose of anything unnecessary and finally reduced our luggage to the acceptable limit. Our twelve hour flight was quite good with the usual aircraft noise, kids and few loud passengers. We arrived in Singapore and caught a taxi to Malcolm's cousin Steve ...
Singapur, Singapore shimmy08... to wish him faretheewell (his flight was leaving later that day from Bangkok, whereas mine was from Singapore) and a safe flight, and his head cocked up for a moment to grunt. I took this grunt as sleep-speak for "Thanks Charles, you too! It's been fun." And fun it was. Thus was ended the Jeff-segment of this adventure.
Shoulders loaded well over capacity, I scrambled out to catch the first airport express bus, actually a van at the early hour and crammed to the teeth with fellow ...
