From the market, we walked to a modern supermarket where Tony bought some Azeri brandy. We stopped at the Sharma restaurant on the corner, recommended by Nick, and had some tea, coffee, etc. Then on to the hotel to unload our purchases - heavy items they were - before heading out to the city center. ... later, which I am told is quick, I was on my way to Baku. It appears I was lucky, because a couple of other travellers I have met, entered through the same border crossing but were only given 3 day visas for their vehicles, which was a little crazy given the individuals had 30 day visas. This hindered them from exiting the country until they had been to the police and paid a fine..... I was unaware of this issue and glad I didn’t fall foul to it myself.
