Funicular
They have a funicular to get you up/down the hillside.
However, I showed up on lunch break. Being adventurous, I climbed my way to the top. Stupid me. 3/4's of the way I ran into construction - I found a way around but I should have waited.
Interesting cemetery at the top (see next entry).
I did take the funicular back down.
Almost got caught taking a photo of the UN Building (see that guard?)

Welcome to Azerbaijan
... because of our late arrival, we were able to get close enough and were let through the track and to the hotel, rather than having to take the long detour we would have had to take if we had arrived earlier. Staff from the Park Inn Hotel. We were happy to get to our room and get some sleep.

We were called to the front and then had to go to passport control. The whole process took just over an hour so as far as border crossing's go, this was pretty smooth.

Bubble and Burb
... as we found a spot with some mud volcanoes after all. It was an oil field of sorts, with dried and caked up mud flats making our bush camp, we pitched tents and those not in the cook group wandered off to find the bubbling mud. Ryan returned with mud caked feet; the kind of mud that just doesn't wash off easily with some water, it just gets more mucky and messy. I was on cook group so busied myself with chopping the heaps of onions then mixing ...
