... lots lots waving, off she went. I watched the bus
leave, turned to walk home, and a feeling of “Here they go. All
leaving bit by bit” came over me. No tears, just a large internal
          sigh.
I found myself properly hungry now and
had a big parfait breakfast at home on the porch, then cycled to
Brisbane to meet Olly, Babsi, and Jazmyn at Pancake Manor. Olly and
Jazmyn had just gotten tattoos and we heard their stories about it.

... The animals were a but busy, as were the people, with all the
          extra noise.
I was put into Birds with Emma under
the care of Sheryl who had not been on Birds for about 10 months due
to her maternity leave. She was a young and cheery keeper, but

she was running behind schedule. Even though we did tasks in a
different order than when we were under Sandy, everything got done.

... Back to Lone Pine, the three of us
wiped rails for the first half hour or so, then Hiroyoshi and Nami
helped scrub koala branches while I got to work clearing all leaf
litter and branches out of an island garden area by the drain. That
was the theme of the rest of the day. I finished the one garden right
after morning tea (which was mildly boring and consisted of me
standing around after ten minutes, waiting to return to my endeavour)

So I was writing for the 9th
of September, and for some ungodly reason saved it over my original
5th entry. I am quite irritated, to say the least. So,
here is what I can recount (though sadly not as good as the original)
          from Saturday:
It was a lazy morning, with me sleeping
in until 8.30 (shocker) and then making myself a fabulous parfait
with Weet-Bix, strawberries, honey, almond slices, dried cranberries
          and ...

... on the next bus southwards that evening, and, luckily, the pick-up point was at the ferry terminal when we got off the boat. So, we chucked our bags on, and settled in for the four or five hour journey to Airlie Beach. To kill the time, Soph and I raced against each other to see who could write down the 50 states of the USA the quickest (as she had previously mentioned that she could do it). I lost significantly and was only on about number 19 by the time she had finished. Sophie ...
