    Since we arrived, we haven't had time to go to Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius. And today is also the first time dad is opening his shop since Saturday. First thing we did was to go to the Post Office to get Rs25 stamps that is required to get a new birth certificate extract issued. The old original one that I had is becoming obsolete.     ... be a decent portion on a highway, but I felt I had the scooter thing down and regardless, I could just drive on the side of the road. Before I left it started sprinkling.     It took about a half hour to get back to the harbor. The speedboat zoomed through the waves at full speed. There are few things more soothing than the ocean spray on my face.

    The evening was spent collecting a huge amount of firewood for what turned out to be a massive bonfire party on Martello beach for Lauras birthday!     ... Mary and mosques. Last Thursday, Diwali was celebrated big time with banks and shops all shut. Newspapers are in French. Films are dubbed in French. The official language is English, but everyone speaks creole. Although part of the OAU (Organisation of African Unity), Mauritius is definitely not Africa!
