Longest Train Ride Ever

... scene of a small bridge arching over the deep river with mountains standing on either side decorated by red, orange, yellow and green trees and houses with red roofs stacked along the side.  I wanted to live there and I had no idea where we were.  Soon the sun melted behind the horizon spilling pinks, purples and tangerines upon the blue sky.  Before we reached Geneve the sky turned black and nothing could be seen of the landscape.
When I got off in Geneve, I ...

Lovely Lake Como

... good for what you pay!! And awesome for a backpacker!!
Went for drinks at Frank's Bar which Patrick who owns the hotel recommended. Turned out to be a pretty trendy cocktail joint
where you pay for your drink at 1 place then get it at another. 10 Euro for a beverage no matter what you had so naturally I ordered a long island ice tea!!!

Milan - excellent seafood paella... not much else

... a cool little wine bar/tobacco shop/lottery agent to have an aperitif and got to hear the waitress singing along to the radio in broken English with lots of made up words.
Had an AMAZING seafood paella at Osteria del Lazzaretto as well as the biggest piece of bruschetta I've had in my life! They also had half a litre of house wine for 4 Euro! Score!

half day sights of Milano

... Festival was set up outside the rear walls of the castle all of that week).

Wonderfully simple sidewalk lunch of crepes, and fresh fruit containers, not to mention the obligatory gelato!

Back to hotel by 2.30pm, with just enough time for a quick rum, before being collected (this time!) and whisked to the airport for our first main port of call....Palermo, Sicily!

Milano ...

After Istanbul and Rome... even Venice looked dull .. so what do you say about Milan!

Though we did go to see the famous Leonardo Da Vince's Last Supper. For the nerds likes me, let me tell you that the painting is not on a canvas but on the wall of the church (don't remember the name of the church) ... the experience was Wow... it almost felt that you were having dinner with Jesus and his group .. its costs about 25Euro per person ...

We went to Genova??

... and we get introduced to more of the worlds worst drivers. This guy drives a bus like it's a Neon. Or a Smart car. Or something equally small. Pretty much uneventful NOTHING like Rome. Everything closed so early! We did find an English pub (where no one spoke English) and have a couple burger-ish meals. Off to bed, tomorrow to Milan.

In the castle of Milan

... delle Asse. This room was different, it didnt have any items in it, only lights pointed on the ceiling and the wall. It sort of looked like they just havent put the exhibition in yet. But then i looked at the flyers they have for both rooms and read that the ceilings and walls were painted by the one and only Leonardo da Vinci. This may not sound like a bid deal, and it probably wouldnt sound like it to me either if I was ...

La Dolce Vita

... my camera would overheat. We have now spent a week in the epicentre of the Renaissance, the Medici glory known as Florence. So much art, so little time. I still have much left to do, should I ever return and I cant imagine not. Highlights were the Davids by Mike and Donnie, Birth of Venus and Prima Vera by Botticelli, the hands on Da Vinci machine exhibit, the whole Palazzo Pitti, oh! those opulent Medicis! and wandering the streets, with the best ...
