Museum at Academia for a bit of culture- lots of painting of last supper that were rescued(?) from churches in town. Some really old 14c stuff and some more recent restored items. Amazing brushwork and huge alter pieces some with bible stories that were new to me. Spent arvo wandering lanes and canals. Pizza at same restaurant. ...

... there for half an hour before walking to group dinner. Dinner was fair..a bland risotto, dry schnitzel and tirimisu. We then jumped on the bus to go to our hotel about 20 minutes out of Milan. It is quite nice and can't complain about free wifi! We are only here the night and leve tomorrow for la spezia and cinque terre! Here we have a free day so looking forward to some relaxing beach time! Much love LM ...

... looming in front of us. I have seen lots of cathedrals across Europe, but it's grandeur matches Sagrada de Familia in Barcelona, and it's ornateness surpasses it. So many ornamental statues both internal and external, marble carvings, huge alter and naves, and the most intricate lead light windows. The monument to Saint Bartholomew with the depiction of his endurance despite being skinned and made to walk carrying his skin draped over himself was spectacular ...
