Aomori, Tohoku, Japan cubnelaineJust started this blog to try and remember all that we've done so far. It is day 10 here in Japan and the weather has been very hot and humid. It has been so hot that Skyler said that he wished the outside would have airconditioning! We've spent almost everyday going to ...
Okuma-machi, Tohoku, Japan hawaiidawes... in the south of Japan, but they're positively gigantic compared to these little northern munchkins. Why? Well, we reckon it's got to do with their lifestyle. They ride their little bikes and walk everywhere, eat little bowls of sea creatures and sea vegetables and rarely breed with the outside world. AND, they seem excruciatingly happy. They certainly put a lot of effort into promoting happiness. There are 'happy buns', 'happy stores' and smiley faces on each ...
Aomori, Tohoku, Japan travelmounties... try and save these and ship them home if possible. It was a lot of fun and soooooo beautiful I can't even describe. I have more blogs to add from this week once I get caught up on the photos so keep watching! PS ok so the picture weaving thing didn't work the way I thought it would but I think you can figure out which pictures go to which comments in the blog, if not just send me a message and ask me!
Hirosaki, Aomori, Tohoku, Japan abra007... at the chance to be near it, and asked to have her photo take with the cow. The kind farmhand wrestled the girl (cow, that is, not Kaoru) into place, and they all posed pretty for the camera. We jumped on the Shinkasen once more, and headed home, exhausted but happy. In retrospect, here's what I can tell you: Do go see Northern Japan, especially the mountains. A tour is a good idea, because we saw ...
Aomori, Tohoku, Japan sablevulpeWe were up by 6, listening to the wind and the river continued their battle for the seasons. Chuck and I headed down for one more soak before heading off to breakfast. The meal was a gorgeous assortment of food, just like dinner, and we all left with full tummies and sleepy eyes. Hirosaki Park was the major attraction for the day, and we headed out by 8:30 am. It took around a hour to arrive, and despite the cold, misty weather, crowds had already begun to ...
Aomori, Tohoku, Japan sablevulpe... completely destroyed during WW2. New modern buildings can be seen. We went in the mountains in the south of Aomori, Hakkoda-San. But as the weather was not really good we spent our time in a big Onsen resort with green-blue water. The bath there is so big that 1000 people could fit in ! Anyway, we appreciated the relaxing days and delicious food there!
Aomori, Tohoku, Japan clemandpo... onsen (sources chaudes).
Aomori, Tohoku, Japan clemandpo... in a festival with a prince, riding on an elephant in Thailand and a tiger somewhere in the northern part of Japan. I remember taking camping trips with other kids all around the country and taking a Japanese dancing class with my mother to be in festivals. Years later I took a month long trip over to Japan with a group of Girl Scouts. I was able to experience everything I had again and it ...
Misawa, Tohoku, Japan kliddleWith my close friends, Hiro and Daiei, we travelled to Tohoku, north part of the main island of Japan in the summer of 1998. I was a graduate student at that time, but after the operation for retina detouchment, I took a rest for a while. We didn't have a graduation tour, so the travel was like that.
The main purpose was to join Nebuta Festival of Aomori. It took very long time to get to Aomori ...
