... I had nothing to hold the books with along with my umbrella, I kept the books inside my hoody. With my mind being as strange as it is I had a daydream that people would think I was trying to blow up the train with this mysterious huge pouch in my hoody as I passed the tracks, and not knowing the language I wouldn't be able to explain they were books so when I try to show the cops this I get shot. When I returned to Kat I found our her mind had wandered to hoping ...
Taito, Kanto, Japan seanandkat... ports of call". The Indiana Jones attraction was familiar to Greg, but the "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" were new to both of us. We had no information on any of the attractions before we entered, so the "Journey" one was a bit of a surprise to me (non-intense ride girl that I am) as all of a sudden we were plunging out of the face of the volcano, fortunately (for me) it wasn't too far a drop!(it was a lot of fun, this is ...

Tokyo, Kanto, Japan gfjhj... for a nice dinner at Chef Mavro (www.chefmavro.com) where we went for the four-course dinner menu. Very good food, but the chef could lighten up a bit on the salt. Not overly salty, but we found that restaurants on the US mainland these days seem to have gone for the lighter less salty taste so maybe Oahu just hasn't quite caught up with that trend yet. Now, it's back to Japan time where the rainy season has just finished. So till next time, aloha & happy travels to you too!
Tokyo, Japan jp2005... expect for the horse of course). This was all lightly toasted and it was delicious. I know I said earlier that sushi was probably my least favourite Japanese food....well I really ate those words! I won't top that for a sushi meal, I know that for sure. It was that good! Had a conversation with the chef, who at first asked me if it was delicious (in Japanese), and I understood him so I replied in Japanese. I think he then assumed I spoke ...
Tokyo, Japan chrisuk07... menus and the food displays in Japan. If you can't read Japanese at least you can point to a photo or a plastic model of what you want! After breakfast we had a couple of hours to kill before the tour so we went back to our room and promptly fell asleep. Our tour covered most of the districts of Tokyo and included a stop at the Tokyo Tower. With 333 meters/1092 feet, Tokyo Tower is 13 meters/42 feet taller than its model, the Eiffel Tower of Paris, and is the ...
Tokyo, Japan awos1244... appear to be a strict division of labor along gender lines, something that my reading and preparation before coming to Japan had prepared me for. I am constantly impressed by Syuuichi and Yoko's relationship and interaction. We also had a very humorous conversation about toilets - they asked me about squatty potties, and whether or not I had used one yet. And the best part was that our language capabilities weren't quite adequate, so Yoko and Momo did a little acting for ...
Tokyo, Japan mmdillho... had a showroom here beneath the huge Ferris wheel where they showed off some of their latest cars and technology including a bunch of driverless smart-cars which navigated there way around a track without the need for the person in the driving seat to do anything - perfect for the ride home after a couple to many. Sitting oddly beside a replica of the Statue of Liberty in Tokyo Bay I watched the Rainbow Bridge light up at night before taking the train all the ...
Tokyo, Japan alasdairmWe are planning to meet Hiro today later in the morning so we sleep in a bit. Hiro works in Saitama prefecture, about 1 hour north and east of us. Reen takes the 5 minute walk to 7-11 to get some donut balls and juice for breakfast. Sadly Hiro has to work this morning (Saturday!) but will come by at 1pm. We meet Hiro coming down the steps at the local train station. It is very speacial to see him after more than 2 years, and to see a friendly face after 3+ weeks on the road ...
