... Drum Museum. (This sounds like fun!) After a little bit of searching we found the place, so Elizabeth took a nap in the lobby while I went upstairs to diddle around a little bit. Red stickers mean “don’t touch,” blue stickers mean “touch gently,” and no sticker means “go John Bonham on it.” Tons of cool hand drums from all over the world, including the weirdest drum I’ve ever seen. Hailing from ...
Taito, Kanto, Japan bethere... Everything had an amazing presentation, tempting every taste bud! No trip of ours would be complete without the discovery of a Pub. The "Ginza Lion Beer Hall" was our discovery today. What attracted us was a big sign outside saying "Beer Hall"!! Anywhere which has a beer menu, is worth a look! They have many different types of beer, almost all brewed in Japan. It's a large German pub with their servers dressed in German outfits. The building ...

Tokyo, Kanto, Japan gfjhj... tells you to. We did that same thing on those awful switchbacks for FIVE HOURS. I'm fairly confident that at least one of my toenails will probably fall of within the next couple months. So, we got home, victorious at about 4pm yesterday. Showered the volcano dust out of every crevice of our bodies, and had a sushi dinner. Betsy and I even mustered up the strength to go have a sake at the New York Grill restaurant which sits hight above Tokyo. I slept until 11am this morning ...
Tokyo, Japan cpaul... of others that I never quite figured out. They were quite the contrast to the squat toilet in the apartment. In general, Japan reminded me a lot of Germany. Everything was very clean. The train system is incredibly well organized and exact. If you`re even three seconds late, your train will be gone. The Japanese people also seem to be quite like the Germans in terms of politeness and rigidity. A massive contrast from the Chinese people!
Tokyo, Japan laura1... family meal time," and my work study job. Egyptian Rat Screw (or as I call it, Egyptian B***H Slap) So we have been playing poker every night on the pub deck, but that is really slow paced. So we started playing a new game. I don't know if any of you remember it... but it involves a lot of quick flipping, card slapping, and intense, competitive focus. There is a game going from around 7:00pm to around 1:00 or 2:00am. We usually play out ...
Yokahoma, Japan kimono... kids were out in droves; many people, Japanese and foreigners alike, travel specifically to see the blossoms, so the tourists were out in droves; Japan has a rapidly ageing population and the weather was perfect, so the eldery were also out in droves. And this on a Wednesday afternoon! But I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. And for those who don't know where I'm off to, it starts with "Pa" and ends with "ris"! Stay tuned for a new, interrim travelogue!
Tokyo, Japan gadelle... family, and they have two kids. They all wanted to meet me - so much pressure! But the entire evening was a lot of fun. The husband is a travel agent and helped give me some tips for traveling for Kyoto. He is even going to look into some things for me tomorrow and help me book transportation and lodging for me and my friends. Both the husband and wife speak fairly good English, although they complimented my Japanese a lot. We switched back and ...
Tokyo, Japan mmdillhoWell we managed to get to Japan ... just. It was touch and go right up to the very last minute. But the gas leak was located and repaired, the new floorboards were laid and the radiator leak was fixed. (It's a long story ......) We got on the flight to London somewhat shattered. Thankfully we were flying out to Japan on business class and so we took advantage of the lounge facilities at Heathrow and had a shower. Then we took ...
Tokyo, Japan shewtp... 4 (^-^);. That's alright, they went ahead to the top and Tamami and I had a great talk while walking around the nature areas. She is so sweet. Around 12 or so everyone met up again and we rode the boat back. Then the train, then the subway... finally back to our hotel. And here I am! That's our trip so far in a nutshell (of course I am sure I could go into more detail, but this is long enough as it is isn't it??) '¶'á' 'Ü'½'Ë?AUntil next time, Christina
