... remove it from the mold and lay a portion on a flat surface (to produce the flat side to sit in on a table), let it harden (which doesn’t take much time, then add the handle. In this case, the handle was red glass, which is the hardest to work with because it takes the highest temperature to keep it soft. Once one side of the handle is attached to the base, they have to reheat the red glass to re-soften it for molding. Once it is soft enough to mold, they use a metal bar to shape ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany ab10... between Budapest and Amsterdam.
We’re now traveling on the Main River. We’ve seen many swans and ducks on the river and the hills have many vineyards. After lunch we docked at Wurzburg , another picturesque town with many church spires and a fortress on the hill. The river is crossed by another old stone bridge with large statues of Bishop Princes and saints lining the sides of the bridge.
Today, right after breakfast, we crossed the European Continental Divide. We went into a lock that dropped us down 81 ft. At the bottom it was, as our tour guide said, like being a spider in a bathtub with concrete walls rising up just inches from the sides of the ship.
We docked at ...
Before we even got to Nuremburg the adventure began. Half way through the drive we got a little hungry. Stopping at a truckstop we picked up some McDonalds (The only time so far) and after eating was on our way. Chris then noticed after driving for a few minutes on the highway how windy it was….maybe because I forgot to close the side door of the van. Needless to say we pulled over and closed the door ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany ktchrisFrom Munich to Nuremberg is a nice short drive and luckily Germany doesn't use road tolls (They are so efficient they don’t need tolls…hehe)! We chose a nice little campsite just outside the city! After going for a walk we also discovered we were next to the Football (soccer) stadium and the Hockey Arena. On our first night there was a football game and Nuremburgs local team has one hell of a ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany ktchrisToday, we went to a spa in town, and I have never seen so many Speedos in my entire life.
I hope I never see another Speedo ever again.
The salt baths were really awesome, and the sauna was cool too, but it got SOOO hot so fast.
There is really nothing to do here. I cannot wait to get out of here. Tomorrow, we head to Freiburg, to have a tour of some castles, so that ...
... confined. Commemorating 9 November 1939 means remembering the darkest chapter of German history, bringing to mind a disruption of civilization **********ceivable nowadays. With deep sorrow, horror and shame we look back at the crime against the Jewish citizens of Windsheim and against humanity. To deal with our history is arduous and more than painful- yet it is necessary. Retrospection shows us what racial hatred leads to ...

Ken debriefed me back in his office where I looked over the walls of his previous flights: Bill Clinton and Peter Jennings in Normandy, Iraq, and too many other beautiful pictures to mention. He is a man with a passion for flying and it was a pleasure to share the cockpit with him that morning. Two weekends ago the town of Bad Windsheim remembered Kristallnacht - The Night of Broken Glass. Jews traveled from around the world to return to ...
Bad Windsheim, Germany kitchenshrink... the soldiers have recently returned from Iraq and now they and their families are reintegrating. I've been called daily to be a witness to their crises as they work at rebuilding their lives, in relationships between couples that are struggling to find each other again or who are ready to call an end to a relationship that no longer exists. The work, as usual, is emotional and satisfying. I've also reconnected to Doc and hope to help him celebrate his birthday in a ...
Bad Windsheim, Germany kitchenshrink... are in the first night they were in Germany. And that was the end of that conversation. We said our pleasant goodbyes and he was off. But that wouldn't be the last time we would meet on the streets of this little town. I saw him again on my way back, he waved and smiled. Light was beginning to run out and my shutter finger was itching to do some clicking. I had to pick a street that looked interesting to ride down and do it ...
