... We walked down the Weissgepbergasse (with the oldest remaining buildings in the city), we passed the former home of painter Albrecht Durer, we drank some Mokarabia, climbed the castle, found a traditional Bavarian coat for Pam, and then, since Germany is full of Turkish immigrants, I finally had some Turkish street food. After shooting off an email to some extended family in Frankfurt with some initial plans ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany the_stamms... shop for a bit, then went down to the glass museum to look around for a while. About half an hour before we were supposed to meet, Katy and I strolled through the town to look for shops, but they were all closed, then our bus arrived and took us to a nearby town.
Once we got to the town, we had about an hour and a half to eat, so we strolled down to a “glass pyramid” then found a little place to grab a bite to eat. Katy and I decided to split a dish, then we went ...
... The New Palace contained a huge rose garden and had a great view of the city. During our free time Jack, Suzanne and I wandered around town admiring the architecture. We stopped at a snack shop where I had a large soft pretzel and Coke for only 1.69 euros. Cheapest purchase I’ve made yet. Usually a Coke costs at least 2 euros ($3).
We were back on ship for a late lunch and passed time watching the countryside slide by and going through locks.
... and took buses to Nuremberg. We visited the Zeppelin Field where the big Nazi Rallies were held and the Hall of Justice where the Nuremberg Trials took place. Bought a souvenir pin at Market Square and had cokes at a bistro while waiting for the bus to take us back to the ship.
... as he was joking around and that he owns all the bikes. I replied with a "Yeah, its a nice bike". He said he couldn't go home that afternoon and was waiting for it. Oh, his personal bike! I quickly got off and said sorry, explaining that it was in the bike shed with all the other bikes and unlocked. He seemed kind of mad but not at me. He just wanted to go home. How embarrassing. We had to ride back into town to get dinner so again ...
Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany unbound... sadly…I lost a flipflop….poor flip flop! I loved those comfy flippyfloppys and gone forever!
Well once we got to Nuremburg it was all about the hockey game! A little backstory…Chris spent a year playing NHL09 (Playstation) online with his friend Danny. At first they changed their jerseys quite often but they eventually stuck with the Sinupret Icetigers (due to the lime green ...
... The cheering was intense and we could hear it all from the campsite…pretty fun! The campsite was very nice except for the fact that it was surrounded by acorn trees and we were constantly in fear of our lives! Lol…well just getting a bump on the head! We did get a few nice donks on the camper but it survived. One thing we did notice…no squirrels…very odd!
We explored the ...
... quite a few of the Germans with all their dancing.
Top of our pool, we faced tougher teams on Sunday. Our first game was hard fought, but we could seem to get past their zone and we were beaten quite handily. Another tough game faced us next when we played against the Italians, who had even less players than us, but were quite athletic. After being up most of the game, we let them score ...
... sweets (including American donuts (Frisch und Lecker!) There is also a thick haze of bratwurst smoke in the air mingling with the steamy scents of hot gluhwein. There’s even some little car rides for kids and a small Ferris wheel. Basically they go all out for the season, and it’s open everyday. While the market lacks the craziness and popularity of Zwiebelmarkt, it certainly is fun to see the people out and about, thinking about the ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany robconr... some Persian or maybe a Turkish later that night, the Welshman lost a bet of having sexual relations with the other girl in the bathroom within 30 minutes of the time of the bet. In any event, we left the city less rested, but also less jetlaged, full of hope and passion for the world cup, and having felt a twinge of regret for treading all over one Argentine's hospitality for a bunch of British Isles travellers. Oh well, next stop Chesky in Gelsenkirchen...
