... visited the water well that we have paid for along with the support from our family and friends. If ever I feel I'm working hard in the garden again, I will think of the Indian man five meters down at the bottom of the well, sweet beading all over him, chipping away at the granite like rock until he reached water. ... great Lord Shiva would certainly let in British Hindus if it was up to him, leaving the official a bit bewildered and even more resolute in his decision not to let him in! Anyway from the outside, it was a beautiful temple with intricate carvings towering high depicting the Hindu epic stories in all their colourful drama.

After the first hospital visit we wanted to go to Munnar and we're advised to get 2 buses and get there via Aluva. Munnar is around 5 and a half hours from Kochi, going this way is a 1.5 hour journey to Aluva and 4 hours to Munnar from there. We arrived in Munnar at night and as its around 1,500m above sea level the air was quite cool and refreshing - not what we expected from India. ... We are the only westerners in amongst thousands of Iocals! And we are waved at by many - we feel like we have celebrity status! The procession finishes off at the dam - where we stop to buy popcorn and some local food, of hot chilli peppers deep fried! Yum.... Well that's what I hope we are saying in the morning...!
