... control recently has broken down, this was the perfect sign to follow, where I planed to cross the border to Switzerland.

Just arrived in late afternoon to Aosta, I was not only already entered to the italian part of the alps but also to the point of good bye. Here I decided not to spend another night in Italy and crossed the border to my homecountry Switzerland a hour later at Calle del Gran San Bernardo.

BIENVENUE EN SUISSE - WELCOME TO SWITZERLAND
Liddes, Valais, Switzerland pajas... the casualties of the Matterhorn.
Zermatt itself is tiny, with only electric taxis. It is much colder than Lauterbrunnen even though it's on the border of Italy.
Switzerland is strange. It has no language of its own. In Bern, Lauterbrunnen and Zermatt they speak German but in Montreux they speak French, even the train announcements change languages. It gets confusing, so I just stick to greeting people in English most of the time. When I had arrived here I was fuming a bit because I ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland tonkin... let alone Europe, we ate Maccas for tea! Even Maccas cost us about $30 for each of us to have a burger and share a water and some wedges.

We then felt we needed something sweet to wash the burger away so we went and had a hot chocolate in a little Swiss chocolate shop and watched the town from their first floor window. Zermatt really is such a pretty little town, it’s the kind of town you would see covered with snow on a Christmas card.

Day 2 – ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kimmykak... town of Seez. We must have taken some wrong turning around here, because the GPS went a bit mad. So we found a place to turn round (not easy on those roads) and went back until we could agree with the direction the GPS wanted to take.

We'd sent a text to Tom to say we'd arrive about 2 p.m, and could he arrange for some food to be left for us from the barbeque which had been arranged. He confirmed, and said he'd come down for us at that time.
Aosta, Aosta Valley, Italy dirtyweekendersWe woke "late" (8am) and were the last to leave our bunk. Skipping breakfast, we began our 5 hour journey back to Zermatt. We chose a route that would give us a different view of the valley, but involved 1800m of decent. We paid for it for the next few days. We arrived at our apartment and ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kramertownFarmor agreed to watch Evie and Tyler for 2 days while Sue and Tom hiked to Hornlihut, the refugio at the base of the Matterhorn. Hornlihut is at 3200m directly below the Matterhorn (4400m) and serves as the base camp for those ascending the Matterhorn. When we called for reservations, they asked if we were ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kramertown... them. The nice lady sort of backed away from the counter as I spoke; all the while I think she was looking for the panic button to press to call the police.

Next I asked someone how to get out of the airport, and they said "use the door". Oh, my IQ was now at about 10, for I knew I was in an airport. Next, we saw a Bankomat and decided as long as we were there we would get some Swiss Francs. Well, at this point, with an IQ of ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland lafalot... came to Zermatt, he broadcast from the Rothorn Paradise for the unimpededI remember seeing the views of the Matterhorn. I remember seeing that show "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" a couple of years ago. Went back down to the gondola station and then hiked about 45 minutes past a lake and then to a restaurant for a break. Back down, came to the room to work on this and get ready for the evening. Should be some nice pics, check them out.
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland nedk... we have never seen so many apples in our life !! We eventually got into Trento but got very lost and spent a lot of time trying to find the motor home sites... it was quite confusing as we thought we had found a spot to park but it turns out that the Italian's don't put their motor homes into storage, they just park them en mass wherever they want in car parks, etc.... so it makes finding the actual allocated parking spots quite difficult. We did eventually find one, but we decided to ...
