... Indian Boarding Schools portrays one of the dark episodes in American history and it is sad to think that children were taken away from their families in order to become "Americanized". Seeing the Native American exhibits was a great start to our exploration of this area.

After the tour we had a delicious lunch at the Museum cafe....we both loved the Green Chili Soup. We tried to get the recipe, but no luck! It was yummy!

... called POG. Any guesses what that acronym is for? It is St. Patrick’s Day… Ruth and Alex decided it was a Paul O’Grady festival, but were sorely disappointed to find that it was actually the Pot of Gold music festival. Then Alex and Hayley were gutted that we didn’t have tickets as Bastille and Korn were there. Even if we did have tickets though, standing out in the sun for hours in a crowd of people didn’t seem like fun, and we made moves to head back ...

... hours walking the grounds, looking at the horses and attending several competitions. Thursday was for riders 18 and under in the Half-Anglo Arabian Country Riding events. We then spend time watching the yearling and 2 year old colt/filly championship. These young horses were also for sale, some for over $100,000.

Friday, the 13th - Filled with sleeping in, reading and laptop work, lounging by the pool and more hikes.

This concert was part of Phoenix Bikefest a gig organised by the local Harley dealers. As you can imagine there were a lot of bikes and leathers around but the crowd was pretty good, while the music was loud and continuous and not really our deal, but it was okay.

We have now returned to our site at Sandy & Don Buerkley's Sun Meadow Ranch near Cave Creek. We continue to enjoy their hospitality and reasonable rates. Florence & I are relearning how to play 500 card game under their tutelage. On a "girl's" day out, we went back to Lake Pleasant for lunch.
