... Byron Bay. Now there is a nice spot. Small, historical, funky and unpretentious, it is the stomping ground of musicians, painters, potters and actors. It is also the farthest point east on the continent and if you looked REALLY far out to sea and had Superhero vision you might see the migrating humpback whales.

We couldn't leave the Gold Coast without seeing the Rugby League Titans play at their home turf. It was a lopsided game but plenty of pushing ...
Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia rbmom... place, where souvenir shops lined the streets and sat incongruously next to posh themed restaurants. Although the streets where extremely clean. I think the fact that we was exhausted from travel may have clouded our views but first impressions are what last and to come halfway around the world to stay in a posh version of Blackpool left a nasty taste in our mouths. Just like a Gold plated Dog ****…. When it comes down to it and you look past the ...
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia shelleyandsimmo... altitude of 230m and enjoyed the contrast between water front heavily covered by tall hotels and the sea covered by tall waves. The afternoon I spent by the beach, observing the surfers and reading The Catcher in The Rye, which kind of fitted the occasion. Real must when in Brisbane is a detour to the North Stradbroke Island. I liked it a lot and stayed overnight. First day I walked the beaches ...
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia tsimko... else in the world calls it, "Aluminium". I found this fascinating that I never heard it before. We considered going bowling afterwards but the wait was too long, so instead we ended up at the same Irish pub we spent the last day at. We all liked it there, and I'm always of the viewpoint that as long at the beer you like is there all bars are the same. So why bother spend hours trying to find a new place when one is just as good as the next? Massive intoxication followed.
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia edg126... good beach and a perfectly great girl in a perfectly cheap bungalow 10 meters from the ocean to come to this horrific cesspool of urbanity ironically called Surfer's Paradise. What am I nuts? The name is quite alluring and when I got off the plane, I chose Surfer's instead of Coolangatta strictly because I had heard of it before. (I think this is how people end up on Phuket and Koh Samui) I only had a couple days before Bluesfest so it really didn ...
Surfers Paradise, Australia rcysWe've been in Australia for about two weeks now, and have one week to go. We rented a campervan again, like we did in NZ, so more driving on the other side of the road. Traffic is way busier here, but at least you aren't driving on a narrow, one-lane road on the side of the mountain like in New Zealand! Actually, Bonnie and I have realized that for the most part, Aussie's and Kiwi's have got it right when it comes to driving- they have traffic-circles EVERYWHERE ...
Surfers Paradise, Australia ty.and.bonnie... of screaming kids running up and down the hall. At least the pool wasn't **** yellow--which would have brought to mind a certain family vacation to South Dakota! The highlight of our visit to Surfers was Melbas nightclub. Because of our VIP status (ha!), we had free tumblers of shots and managed to get quite sauced. The night ended in a crazy dance-off with our tourbus rivals--Contiki! Surfers was probably the only place that I would not go back to in Australia.
Surfers Paradise, Australia awehrbar... knows it's to slow. After that we went to get our pictures taken with the Koalas. they were so soft and cuddly. I wished I could be there forever. The only thing was we had to go see the Kangaroos!!!! We bought some Kangaroo Food and headed over to Kangaroo Heaven! when we walked in we couldn't see any Kangaroos but after we started walking we saw tons! First we went over to a Mamma kangaroo with a Joey in it's pouch ...
Beerwah, Australia whitfield... was wicked so it was definately an attraction to come back to for another ride later that day. The next stop for us was the Planet SOS 3D film, an 8perf/70mm iWERKS film presentation featuring a few "4D" effects, such as wind. It wasn't anything groundbreaking and was a bit disjointed but entertaining nonetheless. Straight out the exit doors and across the road we headed to board the Sea World Monorail. The Von Roll mark II design was different to mark III's that ...
The Spit, Gold Coast, Australia v1213... stay for many more years.

Sadly though, some people just can't handle China.

They find it too dirty or too loud or simply not a society they want be part of. I've only met a small amount of these people and some of them I could tell upon first meeting them that they should maybe teach in Japan or a western country. Another loved it but after a year her patience and tolerance began to fade and her desire for carpet and ...
