... of Venice to the ground, the city fathers ordered the furnaces at the heart of glass making out of Venice. The glass artists moved their foundries to the island of Murano a mile north of Venice in 1291. At its peak in a century after the move, 3,000 of the 7,000 residents of Murano were in some part of glass making, either crafting or production.

We were able to find a recommended bar and sat down to a board of fomaggio and carne which included proscuitto, mortadella, speck, and a mystery meat, 4 different cheeses, olives, and bread. ... place which was quite quiet but we go in anyway as it's warm. We get a few drinks each and have a dance and after a while decide to head home. Unfortunately we all forget where to go. We spend about an hour searching for the bus stop (next to the train station). It's a horrible walk and we are all angry and cold and tired. We get there and just get into a cab so we can get home fast. By the time we get back, it's almost 6am! We go straight to bed and sleep until my alarm goes ...
