We profited from a first very nice and warm spring weekend here in Switzerland and decided to check out the remote Jura region of Switzerland.
After a two hour train and bus ride we arrived at the the beautiful lake "Etang de la Gručre" which was man-made in the 17th century to run a mill. The surface was crystal clear and we enjoyed the mirror like reflection.
After having surrounded the lake we continued our hike across deserted cow ...
... even managed an afternoon sleep. Amazing.
In the late afternoon the sun finally showed itself, and we
braaied under the setting sun.
Cycling in Switzerland is fantastic. Almost everywhere you
go there are cycle paths and the way that other road users respect you is
nothing short of amazing, especially for us coming from South Africa. The paths
are well sign posted which certainly helps in areas where you can easily get
Werner and I rode from Beaune to Liesberg in 3 hours. It was a short but good ride.
Overall we had an excellent time, saw some new interesting places, and were very good riding pair.

... riders were from the pre1950's, exhaust pipes, when attached, belching smoke and oil in equal proportions. Had a walk round the town and then went into the tourist centre where a lovely lady told us all about the area and gave us lots of pamphlets. With it bucketing down with rain we headed for Pareid where we we're staying for the night. Well we did say we wanted countryside and this place certainly is that! ...
... us to a trip on a ferry across the lake, which was a nice surprise! France is always good, feels close to home and we've missed their baking. We're at a small site run by 'Stan' just south of Nancy. It's all NL here (we have to call the that now as Gen only refers to people by the letters on their car) only one or two D's and no GB's (that's what Gen seeks out!) We've had the odd letter that we have to look up - there is S, DK, B, BL, ...
