    ... around the castles but drive and try to dry out. Had difficulty finding a place for the night an ended up in a small town called Montbeliard. It was a very nice Ibis next to an ordinary Chinese restaurant full of Asian tourists. We ate in the restaurant and went to bed early.

    ... Serge is married to Sonia. We talked and had vine, bier and a variety of sausages that were unique to the Alsace region of France. Later Serge grilled up some pork chops and sausage. Sonia prepared several side salads. Everything was wunderbar! Serge told many stories, especially stories from when he and Sonia visited the United States.     ... animal swam past. Its body was about 40 cm long with a long tail. At first I thought otter but then I thought rat. It turns out to be a ragondin. It is a large semi aquatic rodent or beaver rat. The next day we saw a few of them and one was very large indeed. Apparently the can get up to 60cm in body length and over 40cm long tail. Needless to say we did not go down to the river and made sure Frankie's door was shut tight.

    ... grapes, lilac and rose bushes. We enjoyed a delicious five course French BBQ including appetizers, ham, various salads, pudding pie, fresh fruit, Marie’s plum tart and a dinner cheese plater.
