Crete - never been here before. So it was with much anticipation that we set off on our tour. Not as charming as Santorini, parts of it a bit like a non graffitied, tidier version of Athens - not bad but not really amazing either. Their economy is very strong and they could survive independently from the rest of Greece. First stop was the Palace of Knossos. Interesting. Our tour guide Lena was good. Fourth of July In Crete with no fire works :( Today we drove from Chania to Heraklion to our new hotel. ... and headed up the coast road, stopping at a couple of beaches on our way back to the hotel. The beaches were quite gravelly, with lots of pebbles, great little taverna, and the water was so warm it was like being in a bath. After the coolness of the waters in Santorini and Mykonos, it was exceptionally nice to get in and have a float about in the near-waveless water.

Now what to do for dinner. WE thought to try out one of our ...

After a slightly earlier get up (1.30pm) and another clean up of the apartment Katie, Nicola and I went and had a look round the old Malia. Saw some traditional Greek architecture and eyed up some restaurants for the last night. On our return katie and Jemma prepared a stir fry whilst Nicola and I went for a swim. We are now about to have a pre-party ...
