We made it to Crete, pretty uneventfully, a very long ride on the Metro! Then was the fun to find our accommodation in Kato Gouves, after refusing to pay 35 Euros we found a bus that took us into Heraklion to change buses to the one that goes to Gouves, that also stops by the airport! Had it al planned out, we would walk down the street directly …

    ... we walked a few blocks south to the Agora, or the ancient Athens marketplace. We were able to see some of the places that Dr. Hoff excavated on our way there. The trains/subway were also filled with colorful graffiti. We walked to the Temple of Hephaistosin the Agora. It was cool to see the colossal columns. Dr. Hoff and Molyy told us what things meant and showed us around. I thought it was interesting to see what the different marks that doors and gates made ...

    ... in all of Greece -see, see still alive". Which it was and huge, at least a metre tip to tip.

    As with the Greek lifestyle, took a siesta midafternoon to recharge for Greek night on the top deck.

    Greek night on the top deck was great fun, course after course of traditional food including grilled octopus (the most tender I have ever eaten). A group of local dancers then came onboard to entertain us and teach us some steps. Great fun and great eye candy.
