We made it to Crete, pretty uneventfully, a very long ride on the Metro! Then was the fun to find our accommodation in Kato Gouves, after refusing to pay 35 Euros we found a bus that took us into Heraklion to change buses to the one that goes to Gouves, that also stops by the airport! Had it al planned out, we would walk down the street directly …

... Music and singing and dancing accompanied all of this! Ended up sleeping most of the afternoon so now feeling ready for dinner and tonight's entertainment ( a celebration of France). Last nights show was songs from Italy.the shows are of a very high standard, singers are brilliant, dancing is very professional and costume as are fantastic. They go for just over an hour but they put a lot into that time. Lots of Andre Boccelli songs last night so ...

... speaking tour so not much learnt about the locals on that trip! We swapped to an English bus at the next stop and now we have the history lesson sorted! We had time to wander through a couple of lovely wee villages along the way and as the sun was reluctant to shine today we were back wearing jackets! Lovely local crafts, linen cloths, scarfs etc. ...

... past olive groves, orange trees and a monastery. About 12km return, the 5-hour trek was probably a little more up and down than we (I) expected. Bronte, of course, took it in her stride leaping up and down rocks and across narrow passes - much like the mountain goats that we encountered on our hike!

... who own it are delightful.

The pace here can only be described as turtle like. Perfect really. I'll describe today to you as an example.
Woke at 8.30 after 10 hours sleep
Breakfast in bed at 9.30; freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and cereal
Skyped the folks for 30 minutes
Got dressed at 11 and we walked the 1.5km downhill into the village for supplies. ...
