... It's awesome and noisy and threatening and joyful. Our lives are golden. We get to take it all in. Five pizza delivery motos rotate in and out in front of us. ... water. While the sea was a bit choppy at first--we rounded the bend and were into the calm waters of the caldera within 30 minutes of departure. Inside we snaked along the caldera walls where the water is deep enough to allow boats to within 50m of the cliff walls. We didn't take many pictures because it was just too peaceful and beautiful to bother with cameras. Plus, most of our time was spent staring up at the villages that we'd stayed in and visited all week ...

This is likely to happen after Athens as we are at sea on Friday and Istanbul again on Saturday (very little free wi-fi in Istanbul). I am way behind with photographs. Transferring from my camera to the Mac in the lab is easy. Getting them onto my iPad is not. If I use iTunes I have to use my satellite time. They have to be sent as an email attachment ...
... ate a big lunch of grilled octopus, stuffed calamari, and a variety of Greek dips and bread, drank a bottle of Prosecco, and even had the town's best gelato as a treat to ourselves for making the hike to Oia (so much for burning off all of those calories). We did not torture ourselves to hike back to Fira, there was a public bus that took us :) We met dad & Lisa who had a relaxing day touring the island by boat and bus, and bragged to them all night about our hike!
Christopher finished his book, The Girl on The Train, and I finished mine as well, The Girl in The Spider’s Web- from the Stieg Larsson series, written by another gentleman with the same characters. I can recommend it without reservation. Absolutely in keeping with the “original”. I’m now reading Girl on the train – and liking it thus far. Trying to figure it ...
