... water was incredibly calm, leaving my thoughts crisp and undistorted. Then I called the Yacht service in Parikia again, around 9:15---now past the time that we had been expected there. A familiar voice answered and quickly realized what I had called for. It was Michaelis, and he was happy to hear that we were close by and told me to sit tight---they would come and help. C and I put the dinghy in the water and attached the engine. Parikia was less than 10 km away ...

... e by the Gestapo who was later sentenced to death. This order only rescinded when all of the Champenois went on strike.

I made inquiries with Mot when in Epernay several years ago; about the war and how business was conducted, their Cellar Guide mentioned that whilst they suffered oppression, they still sold their bottles – at a reduced cost. Recent requests about an interview pointed me in the direction of this book, ‘Wine and War’, ...

... as Langer and I almost got blown off the cliffs. We could hardly talk to one another the gusts were so powerful and soon after snapping a few shots decided to take cover again in the streets of Little Venice, also known as Mikri Venetia. Here there are rows of restored fishing houses lining the waterfront with their balconies hanging over the sea and positioned to catch the last of the days light. If it wasn't so over priced it would have been a great place ...
