... the next lock that keeper confirmed the locks would be open till 7pm and so we pressed on, both very tired from another sun sapping day. Isi typed up some blogs whilst we waited. Just after we set off we met a man with a donkey walking along the tow-path with all his earthly possessions in the panniers. Another first!

We have had to sign up for the optional extras now. Of course I've committed to all of it. Except for white water rafting (**** that would be cold here), the mozart museum, and some wine tasting. All the rest I will be on though.

Oh, another interesting fact is that one of the girls on my bus is Adam Glass's missus.

We had reached the Northern end of one of the numerous national parks and as our intention was to see as much as possible (and avoid the toll roads!) we started our ascent into the hills. The roads cling to the sides in what seem like never ending spirals with sheer drops one side and high rocks the other punctuated with hair pin bends.
