So this is just a taste of what I enjoyed in Suomenlinna. It was the highlight of my trip to Helsinki. The ferry back on the open deck was a bit cold but I was expecting that. It was all worth it.

After another night of musical beds we awoke slightly worse for wear but excited about heading out to the main part of the city. We amassed the troops and found we again had a full compliment of 4! A quick trip to the indoor market confirmed the Finlanders really know how to build. We saw their old house, the community college where Pekka taught marketing for 37 years and the town library. ... around the ship before returning to our cabin, situated in the lower bowels of the vessel. No one was outside at 1:00 in the morning (possibly because it was windy and cold), and it was an incredibly tranquil experience, with nothing around but seawater and orange sunlight on the northern horizon. Standing on the deck looking out at the water, I couldn't help but reflect on the end of our time in Europe and the fact that our lives were, once again, about to change drastically.
