... perfection (except for its out of place casino). The 2km promenade along the shore is a must with blooming gardens, sculptures and sights to see everywhere. Strongly recommend! A quick stop at the hotel where Barbara's art is exhibited then we headed back through town window shopping, mostly closed as it was 7pm after a long day. All we could manage was fried rice with shrimp from the Thai restaurant around the corner from us and an early night. Phew! This was definitely a day trip to ...

Our day trip to Gruyere gave us our country side and small rural village experience in Switzerland. The old town (for tourists) is a single quaint street with restaurants, hotels, and craft shops. After a coffee and short walk, we had lunch at Le Chalet de Gruyeres, famous for its fondue. We ordered their specialty fondue - gruyere and vacherin cheeses with white wine, dipping ...

Today we caught the metro to CHUV and walked a very steep trail to Bois de Sauvabelin, a forest park up from Lausanne. The forest is quite eerie with its tall trees and trail leading to who knows where? We eventually arrived at the lake (Lac de Sauvabelin) and had lunch there - delicious perch fillets with salad and chips - yum! The lake was quite small but very pretty. There was a farm zoo around the lake - geese, ducks, pigs, sheep, ...

2 countries in 1day! Switzerland to France. Today we were a bit naughty and had a sleep in, well 8am anyway. We had looked yesterday and worked out the boat leaves at 11am however when John went down at 10am to buy the ticket they changed the time to 12.30 so we jumped on a train to Lausanne for a quick coffee and a wander before heading back to catch ...

... the cheese factory of Fribourg Switzerland (at first we were going to go to the chocolate factory as well but it was canceled because it had a two hour wait). The first thing that I noticed when we got to the cheese factory was that there were hundreds of cheeses in a room that was behind glass. After a little waiting we started the tour. They explained how they turned the milk into cheese and how that once they got the first stage they had to let it sit ...
