... Vatican we stopped for some pasta and then on to the Colosseum. The Colosseum is in itself amazing in the construction at the time and the fact that it held 55,000 people. We then had time so we went to the catacombs outside the city walls. Elliot and I hoped for bones, but no such luck. Interesting as there are miles and multiple layers. Hundreds of thousands of bodies are buried there. Then back into the old city and to the Pantheon with the dome ...

You are not allowed to take photos in the chapel so I cheated and took a photo of a postcard! I walked home again through back streets which are so pretty. It's evening I am in a trattoria having a local white wine with bruschetta followed by spaghetti carbonara. Then off to relax before heading off to meet other humans ...
I awoke just before 8am to another warm sunny day,wishing I had had a better night's sleep. The bed was not very comfortable unfortunately and was very narrow and I felt like I was falling out of it during the night. Katie was very restless in the night as she had started a head cold and was snuffling all night, which disturbed me - not her fault, poor thing, but it didn't make for a good night.
