Today was a girls trip to Pompeii - Andrew opted to stay in Rome and have a slower pace...
We were up and out early, took the no.8 tram to the river where we had noticed a taxi rank - quick & affordable trip (7.80 euro) to the Termini Stazione to get the 0845 Freccarossa (speed train) to Naples then a connection to Pompeii.

... decorated with prows of warships captured during battles. The Roman Forum became the spectacular showcase of the Roman Forum filled with beautiful statues and architecture. The main sight of the Forum include the Arch of Titus (Arco di Tito), the Temple of Saturn, Temple of Vesta, and the church of San Luca e Martina. ... passport issued to me within 2 hours, less if we hadn't come during their lunch break. With our police report and emergency passports in hand, we got the hell out of dodge... ... in the flayed skin of St Bartholomew, below Jesus. That flayed skin was seriously disturbing. I guess Michelangelo was pretty tired out towards his end of the 25 years he took painting the ceiling. It would have had bee absolute agony being on his back all the time way up there painting that.
