Annabel isn't coming to Belgium anymore and the tour ended up being booked out. So now I am sitting in an internet cafe in Essen trying to work out what to do for the day. I have been looking on a website to see if I can find a castle to visit. I may have found one too! It's not too far away which is good cos it means I can get back reasonably easily.

So this week has ...

... my last weekend in Essen.
Saturday I am going to Belgium with Annabel (who is also from Melbourne) we'll take the bus and leave early in the morning come back late.
Sun I am going to celebrate karneval in Köln before taking the train to Frankfurt and staying in a hotel and then catching a train Monday morning to the airport where I will come home to Australia.

... and unfortunately Cori has to leave Saturday at 3pm to get back to Munich to work that night. Also, I promised Scott that we would see Neuschwanstein together and I am really looking forward to experiencing it with him.

I have 2 free days at the end of the course in which I might be able to visit other cities or countries. I was thinking maybe Brussels or Amsterdam then, because they are so close... I also have the option of coming back to ...

... city with Rafael and bought a blank CD to put all of my pics on to bring home. Jan 22nd is also a really important day in Germany for shopping. All of the shops have massive sales on all their winter range starting from then. I went to a really popular German fashion shop called H & M. I found a cute cardigan there that would be perfect for my character in Backbeat, but I don't know if I would wear it otherwise... I'll post a pic of it ...

... But I still went. From Essen we had to catch an incredibly cramped bus to Duisburg and then from there we had to wait for over 30 mins for a train to Düsseldorf. Whilst there we walked to the Altstadt, that I have visited previously, took a stroll along the Rhein and had some lunch. In the afternoon we met Herr Bayer, our politics and Berlin teacher and looked at some video footage from the reunification time in Berlin.

Don"t know if u have heard or not, but Germany is in the middle of a hurricane. 150km winds and severe warnings from the government to stay indoors. ... when we landed. Our last days in Jeri were great: More dancing, more great food and lots of relaxing sunbathing, swimming, horse-riding and windsurfing. And, of course, more sunsets. For some more days we enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. The "streets!" were soft deep sand (no tarmac, nowhere!), which is why there is no traffic whatsoever, apart from the occasional beach buggy.
