Lördagen började med frukost på balkongen med den sista underbara sjöutsikten för den här gången. Fyra punkter skulle klaras av innan vi turen över Alperna; ta ut soporna, köpa frimärken, köpa rosé och tanka bilen. Vi kom till posten i Varenna, jag skulle vända bilen, syster yster & Rikard skulle köpa frimärken. Posten hade inga frimärken!?! …

... a new job, I wasn't performing my best. It is the first time in my life that I have been told, "Daniel you are a very serious person and because you are a bit older than everyone else at the front desk, I am not sure that you would fit into our team!" ... whether Germany would have been reunited in 1990. Instead the Allies decided to supply West Berlin with an air bridge. They flew supplies in from West Germany to the Berlin island and at one point there was a plane taking off every 4 minutes! Thankfully the Russians allowed the air corridors over East Germany to Berlin to stay open. Eventually the blockade ended after 10 months, but Berlin would take another 40 years to reunite.

... the German Christmas markets, we had simply presumed that they would run up until at least Christmas Eve but only a couple of small stalls remained in the square. Apparently it all finished the day prior to our visit :( We did however manage to score to more Gluiwuin and Brat for dinner, keeping a mug as souvenir. Today we took a trip to the small but beautiful town of Heidelberg, most well known for its castle. We had lunch in a German restaurant, where I had cordon bleu. After lunch we took a long walk up to the castle.
