... to get psyched up for the return trip. But just then, the parents of our home exchange folks came for a visit. These are fantastic folks and as friendly as anyone you'll ever meet. We shot the breeze until 9:00pm or so and they left for home. While we were on the back patio we saw a hot-air balloon float by. I expect we will find ourselves on one of these things one day. ... town. Next we visited the Faberge museum and this was fantastic. We had a girl from Russia explain the collection. It all belongs to a wealthy Russian (VERY wealthy) And he houses it in Baden Baden because it is more secure there. I cannot imagine what it all would be worth. Unfortunately we could not take any photos. Had another hour or two in the thermal spa then relaxed dinner at an Italian restaurant. Love ...

Amazing are the restorative powers of a big clean hotel room, a cold shower and good wifi. Our hot and and tiring journey to the town of Germersheim that in all it's different phases seemed several days long rather than one, now became an adventure to be celebrated, as we waited for our dinner under a big patio umbrella of the hotel's Italian restaurant. We went through a few tidy little towns, Offendorf, Herrlisheim, and Drusenheim but they had none of the charm of the French towns in other areas.
