... We intend to spend the day exploring Bellagio and buying in supplies. We have nothing - no food, no beer, no wine!!!! We're about 15k's from Bellagio and I seriously do not want to take the car out again. Finding a parking spot and then being able to manoeuvre the car into it is a real Houdini act in Nesso. Will have to explore the ferries as a means of transport....more later. Later... Ferries are pretty good - we have a jetty not far ...

... we had navigated our way to the place we were staying at we all felt like chilling out.. The next day we took a ferry around some of the lake. We stopped off at a famous villa called Villa Carlotta- it was named after Charlotte, a Prussian Princess. It has one of the world's best gardens. (My opinion) The next day I ...

Day 274 1 hr, 1 km With the steep, wooded mountainside to my left and a valley that is quickly narrowing to my right it's only a few hundred meters and I'm in the next town, Messe. I know that the uphill climb is getting close, including my big goal: to cross the Splugenpass from Italy to Switzerland on foot. I know it was just planted here for the warm months, but seeing a banana tree in someone's yard just feels really unappropriate. C'mon folks, this is the ...

... anyway to get up there... Gordona has a very different feel to any other town I've been in. Why? Well, it's a fairly large, urbanized town, but at half the buildings are look like old, stone and timber barns! It gives it a rugged farmer feel--I guess here at the end of the day people would just bring their animals into town to keep in their barns. Kind of a cozy feel. Some of the barns are in disrepair--but you can still see that a lot of love went into building ...

      1685. The Waterfall

... untarnished" mountain regions... not a lot of jobs... so people spend much of their lives elsewhere working... Finally I reach a point where the valley narrows. Up on a hilltop is another town--but a sign says there's a waterfall off to the side. I figure, no harm in taking a detour to see a waterfall. But by the time I get there it's too dark to really enjoy it, so I decide to just camp out here and continue on tomorrow. It's been a very full ...
