Well that would of had to have been my longest trip to ever reach our first holiday destination in Italy. After a long flight (flying; which I equate to giving birth ie months of preparations, much planning ahead, anticipation, discomfort, tiredness, aches and pains and the end result pure delight and elation) we arrive in Milano!

A travel blog entry by ross.snowball on Jul 04, 2015

If only our friend on the phone from yesterday could have seen us last night. Arriving late into Milan, we found ourselves some back to back park benches in a triangular shaped park not far from the railway station. Salvaging some cardboard from a nearby fruit shop, we fashioned ourselves a thin mattress and slept under the stars, Wendy and I taking shifts to watch our packs as the kids slept. Fortunately the weather was warm and there was no sign of rain. ...

... actually felt refreshed and invigorated after that stop.

The viaducts are amazing. The longest one, the Landwasser Viaduct, is 142 metres long with sweeping arches, and built without the use of scaffolding. Everyone vies for the iconic photo of the train curling around over the viaduct, and just as you think you have it, we are all plunged into darkness in the next tunnel. The counterpoint of breathtaking views with dark tunnels makes ...
