... waiting for a reply we set off for a camper stop further up the lake at Lecco. Doris found it, a pleasant spot overlooking the lake which had a large group of coots diving and dabbling around to entertain us. The rest if the evening was spent blogging and preparing to enter Switzerland, we have visited Switzerland twice before together and this will be my fourth visit, but it's our first time in ...

... however, the surrounding countryside is pretty - vineyards everywhere and distant snow covered mountains. We detoured to Desenzano on the banks of Lake Garda. Clearly a summer holiday town but a beautiful town situated on the shores of a huge lake. The water is crystal clear. Lunch at local trattoria consisting of local trout - scrumptious, a walk around town, purchase of veggies and fruit from local markets and off to the autostrada. ...

... amount of wood and logs that had been washed down the mountains side into the lake. On arrival at Como we had cheese and meat platter to share with wine (hot chocolate for Stu!) before a quick gelato. Como is very stylish, a little like Cambridge by a lake. Lots of people have little dogs and look elegant. Buildings are beautiful. Shops are mostly new to us. We enjoyed an aimless wander. Got speedboat back to Tremezzo at 7.20pm ready for ...
