... Leshan from the local bus station, so I decided to book an extra night in the hostel. It made sense as Chengdu was a bigger place than Leshan, so I was more likely to be able to sort out onward transport to Chongqing to get to the Yangtze River. So now I had a free afternoon to explore Chengdu, and then I could go on the day trip to Leshan the next day.

... made them happy by giving them the cheezyest of smiles and even the odd piece sign. When I was left alone I got to enjoy the lovely calm temple. With the smell on incense and the relaxing Chinese music, I was in my own little world, left to wonder the grounds. It had the true feel of serenity and I was also pleasantly surprised by the tortoise and frogs in one of the ponds.

... under construction and though we still walked through it, we didn't have the nice time we were hoping for. The park was in true disarray and the small canals that ran through it hadn't been cleaned in a long time and stank horribly. We were too disheartened, hot, and tired to search out another place to visit, so we went back to our hostel. I took a nap (scadalous on vacation, I know) and Sam read on the terrace.
