So after we reached the border control for Ecuador we had to take taxis to the Peruvian border, a further five minutes drive. My first impressions of Peru are not the greatest. The coastline is very arid and dry....and kinda dirty. There is rubbish everywhere and it reminds me a lot of the poverty, towns and general landscape of India. We arrived at our hostel on the beach (brownie points for that) and settled in to our rooms. Unfortunately this is an ...

... was take our money for this or that reason. Giving up, we tried a simple beach town we'd driven through that seemed decent, quiet and sunny. Considering the state of some of the places to stay the prices were ridiculous. So we just jumped into the first cheap hostel we could find. Not a bad price and it's only for two nights. It was going to have to be a tuc tuc as we all needed the money for ...

The weather was beautiful so we made the most of it and relaxed on the beach and sun bathed in 32 degrees paradise. The beach was massive and really clean, Steve went for a run in the morning before it got too hot. No idea how he's not suffering a horrendous hangover, jealous is all I can say. We had lunch on the beach at the hotel, and then continued to relax on the beach, Steve watched some of the football, the tv had 9 live premiership games ...

We set off early from Cuenca as it was a long drive today. We were heading to Peru even though the boarder was an easy crossing it was still going to take 8-10 hours. Steve sat in the front of the truck with the driver Alfonso, very enjoyable he is crazy and you get a good view out the huge windscreen and what ever tunes you want on blasting out. We reached the boarder just after midday, ...
