    ... that is not on everyone's list of musts but it I was exciting. It made me think of Dad/Grampie and how much he would have loved to see those magnificent animals. Gus enjoyed the river systems and of course the water flowing out of the alps and all of the lost hydro potential. Miha, being an ichthyologist, was interested in hydro development in Canada and impact on river fisheries. Made for interesting and lively discussions. This is a new country with an old culture ...

    It seems it hags been a day of hurry up and wait. We are waiting at Toronto airport for our connection to Venice. Having a hard time with wifi here so will make this short. Great feeling to actually get on the road. When we wake up we will be in Venice. Taking a few pictures but can't get them off my camera. Will do better, I promise.

    It is September 29, 1960 and I have reached the top of Maine known as Aroostook County. This is a major potato growing area. I drove through Maines pinde wilderness on state route 11. I stayed in Rocinante for the night. I met a great family and had them over for wine. The family that came over was French Canadians and they were very nice. They crossed the border each year to help with the harvest. I enjoyed Aroostook. Now it is time for me to head to Lancaster New Hampshire. ...
