... surprised that, unlike all other train rides we’ve taken this trip, the station was not announced. We were ready to disembark anyway, as often the stop is very quick. Another couple followed our example and were also in time to get off.

Arrived at Bilbao. A very little airport looking very dejected and unloved. A storm was chasing us for the last half hour of our flight with lightning and thunder and caught up with us in Bilbao just as we got to our hotel. Seconds later the skies opened and we were two very happy travellers that we were now in doors and out of the weather. Waiting for the storm to subside and then we will begin to explore. After visiting the museum, my friends and I grabbed some coffee and hung out in a park to enjoy the beautiful, temperate weather of northern Spain. We had a lovely time getting to know el País Vasco (Basque Country), and I hope to return one day.
