... which we wandered through and around, down many of the lanes and narrow streets all lined with shops. Most were still operating though some shops were for rent or sale. We found the market at Ribera. This is a fresh food market, especially with lots of fish. The building has a wonderful glass ceiling and stained glass feature walls.

Tom enjoyed his first ice cream in the plaza outside the Santiago ...

... old-fashioned, with tablecloths covered by paper and felt like a local café rather than for tourists. The lady explained the menu of the day; 2 courses for €9. Fortunately Ruth was not very hungry as she didn’t pay as much attention as she should have to the choices on offer. She did not enjoy the pig’s ear casserole at all!

We picked up our Audi automatic at 17:00 and headed off ...

... some restaurants are finally opening. We are having to readjust our routine as dinner will be much later here than we are used to. It is comforting to know that the restaurant prices we've seen so far are very reasonable as we thought that we might get a shock after Poland. The area we are staying in is the historical part of Bilbao and so far we like what we see. This area goes back to the 1400s with most of the buildings being quite original. ... on the door at 5am...it was actually 8.30...or was it 9.30?! I'm not sure what w this different time zone?! But none the less, a little over reaction for awakening him. So off we went in desperate need of coffee! Once again, abused the wifi and Jed managed to Face Time home! Which incidentally led to Henny burning Oma's potatoes...but hey I'm sure it was worth it, it's always nice to talk ...
