... than Romania, which was battered down by the Ceausescu regime and remains one of Europe’s poorest countries.

We stopped first in Sigisoara, one of the Siebenbürgen with its preserved walled old town on a hill. Brasov, another of the Siebenbürgen, in turn is located in a valley. Sadly we found the doors of its famous black church closed on our arrival.

Between both stops we visited 14th century Bran Castle, ...

... the original bus was good as gold but no one was convinced by that statement and we all adjourned to the new bus and headed back into town. The original bus driver, in sign language, indicated he wanted to marry Steve but, fortunately, Steve has designs on someone else.

At 7.30 we all met to head out for a group dinner. It was Nicky's 37th birthday so we did the obligatory birthday singalong, tucked into some birthday cake and had a jolly good night.

... A castle and fort and then back to Brasnov. This is the walking street - no cars allowed. Shops, restaurants, bars, and yes, even the Golden Arches are here.

... Royal family and the Romanians - probably why they joined the allied side in 1916!!!
They say the Count dropped by once but no-one could remember him. However, it seems he wasn't such a bad fella - like a Robin Hood in fact. His enemies probably didn't think so though - especially the ones he impaled. But its all a myth he was a vampire. However, I will check that out when I catch up with ...
