Hilo on kõige suurema sademete hulgaga linn terves USA's. Seal sajab 95% ajast. Sooja on ju ikka ca 27 kraadi. Meie öömaja on klassikaline motell, kus igal toal on rõdu. Ei midagi erilist, aga ajab asja ära. Koha eripäraks on see, et se...
Hilo, Hawaii, United States anneristoRentisime Avisest Mustangi cabrio. Mis salata, arvasin, et sportauto, aga tegelikult nõrga mootoriga ja kehva juhitavusega edevus. Põhja rannikuteel läände on hulgaliselt koskesid.
Kona, Hawaii, United States anneristoWe woke up early today to catch a flight to Hilo. We took a small prop plane with only 6 seats and the flight was fantastic! The pilots that flew us to Hilo from Maui were young and very nice! The best part of it is we got to non-rev for free! I can't stress enough the power of being nice and a box of goodies wouldn't hurt! We brought them chocolates and other treats! They knew we were airline employees so we got to fly for nothing. We arrived in Hilo mid morning and had lunch at this organic...
Hilo, Hawaii, United States astroguyazThis is our second night in Hilo, but we ended up staying in a dorm on our first night due to hostel booking error. I didn't mind it, but John ended up staying in the jeep because my snoring bothered him. That poor thing! We are staying at Arnotts Lodge this week and the hostel is great for budget travelers and backpackers. They have great facilities which includes computers with internet access, kitchens, bikes, a movie room filled with 3,000 movies, and lots of adventure tours. If you want ...
Hilo, Hawaii, United States astroguyazOh my, I'm really doing this! Was glad to be able to stay with friends near Tulla night before. They drill me about the travel experience. Gwen's fussing over my luggage. Reckoned I had too much with two suitcases. I'm trying to visualise what I will need in Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Scotland and Greece. Low on data. I streamline. Ross is thrilled with and for me. Early rise and we are ready! I'm excited, apprehensive disoriented, tired, slightly aching, worried about how the injured neck would ...
Melbourne to Honolulu, Hawaii, United States hilwanderer27 March 2007 Arnott's Lodge is an international Hostel. www.arnottslodge.com Accommodation ranges from deluxe cabins to a tent on the lawn. Flowers, fresh coffee on tap, walk to beach and ride bikes, bus or taxi to nearby Hilo. Yes, sibling of Arnott's biscuit empire that sold out to America anyway. This is a delightful place to stay. Meet interesting people, comfortable and clean base. Movie selection is impressive. Well run and friendly. Organise tours and trips to wot ever on the island. ...
Hilo, Hawaii, United States hilwandererAlright! So as promised I did split up the massive Hawaiian entry. Here is the second half, which coincidentally was part of the first... just elaborated a bit. January 17th At 5 AM I dragged myself out of bed for the hour long bus ride to Pearl Harbor. Why did I get up at this ungodly hour during a holiday? Well, for some reason only 4000 visitors are allowed to view the Arizona daily. It was strange being in a place of such historical value, similar to when I stood at the Reichstag in Berli...
Waikiki and Hilo, United States jjswitzerAt 8:50 I boarded a plane for the Big Island of Hawai'i for my long awaited vacation. After a brief delay resulting from the plane breaking down I was on my way, and arrived in Hilo around midday. One of my co-workers, Max, accompanied me on the trip. While we don't really get along, it was great to have someone else to see the sights with, if only so that we always had someone to get our photo at the memorable spots. After arriving in Hilo I hitch-hiked into town and spent the rest of the da...
Hilo, Hawaii, United States keith_aussieTo start my second day of the vacation I hiked into Hilo again to visit 'Imiloa, an astronomy and cultural centre located on the University of Hawai'i Hilo campus. It was a great source of information on the night sky that would be visible from Mauna Kea, and on how the Polynesians used the stars to navigate between islands. There was a great deal of Polynesian history at the centre and it did a great job of explaining their culture. The final feature of 'Imiloa was a planetarium where I watc...
Hilo, Hawaii, United States keith_aussieAt 4:00am on November 1st Max and I boarded a tour bound for the lava fields on the south coast of Hawai'i. We were leaving at this time for two reasons, one being that lava is best seen at night, and the other being that we were skirting the law by going on this tour. Where the lava is flowing used to be a town and the tour guide owned a house there. The house has long since been burned down, but the property is still hers, so if anyone asked we were "going to check on the property", which l...
