Rentisime Avisest Mustangi cabrio. Mis salata, arvasin, et sportauto, aga tegelikult nõrga mootoriga ja kehva juhitavusega edevus. Põhja rannikuteel läände on hulgaliselt koskesid. Meie esimeseks pikemaks peatuseks oli Waipio org. Sinna pääseb märkide põhjal kas 4-veolise autoga või jalgsi. Tegelikult oleks saanud minna ka cabrioga, mida me üritasimegi, aga jalgsi vastu tulevad ameeriklased soovitasid mel tungivalt ümber pöörata. We woke up early today to catch a flight to Hilo. We took a small prop plane with only 6 seats and the flight was fantastic! The pilots that flew us to Hilo from Maui were young and very nice! The best part of it is we got to non-rev for free! I can't stress enough the power of being nice and a box of goodies wouldn't hurt! We brought them chocolates and other treats! This is our second night in Hilo, but we ended up staying in a dorm on our first night due to hostel booking error. I didn't mind it, but John ended up staying in the jeep because my snoring bothered him. That poor thing! We are staying at Arnotts Lodge this week and the hostel is great for budget travelers and backpackers. At 8:50 I boarded a plane for the Big Island of Hawai'i for my long awaited vacation. After a brief delay resulting from the plane breaking down I was on my way, and arrived in Hilo around midday. To start my second day of the vacation I hiked into Hilo again to visit 'Imiloa, an astronomy and cultural centre located on the University of Hawai'i Hilo campus. It was a great source of information on the night sky that would be visible from Mauna Kea, and on how the Polynesians used the stars to navigate between islands. At 4:00am on November 1st Max and I boarded a tour bound for the lava fields on the south coast of Hawai'i. We were leaving at this time for two reasons, one being that lava is best seen at night, and the other being that we were skirting the law by going on this tour.
