... It's awesome and noisy and threatening and joyful. Our lives are golden. We get to take it all in. Five pizza delivery motos rotate in and out in front of us. Lots of duct tape keeping them running and all together. Just like our spinning globe. Don't know how it all stays together and don't care. As long as it does. Strange encounters of a genuine kind. Sandy. She a lovely young woman running the fruit and health food store a few doors ...

With our dessert in hand and some change we were rushed off to the port to catch our ferry to Crete. This isn't a typical ferry. The crew do not get any deals on satellite connection time, so they head ashore at every opportunity to contact their families at home. Internet connection is very slow when so many people log on ...

... ate a big lunch of grilled octopus, stuffed calamari, and a variety of Greek dips and bread, drank a bottle of Prosecco, and even had the town's best gelato as a treat to ourselves for making the hike to Oia (so much for burning off all of those calories). We did not torture ourselves to hike back to Fira, there was a public bus that took us :) We met dad & Lisa who had a relaxing day touring the island by boat and bus, and bragged to them all night about our hike!

... we ate, talked and drank some wonderful wines.

The show tonight was a comedian – Steve, Paula, Christopher and I went – and actually laughed. He was quite funny. Spared no one in the front row nor anyone who dared enter late. We all got a good laugh at their expense. Maybe they learned a lesson – never show up late when a comedian is on a roll!!
