... in the water level is about 100 meters and so it makes for a very interesting afternoon of watching men run around and getting all the umbrellas and chairs out from the tourist before they get eaten up by the sea! And you could shop right as you sat enjoying the sun. Vendors walk the beach with everything from t shirts to jewelry, to henna tattoos, to sunglass, nuts, fried cheese sticks, paints and even sheep skin rugs! Just in case you ...
Porto de Galinhas, Brazil vmcelani... way to see the whole city. Somehow I ended up in a hotel that is not right in the touristy area, and I got upgraded from a 3 or 4 person dorm room to a 2 person room all to myself. It was nice at first when I got off the truck and I spread all my **** out everywhere and walked around in my underwear for a while, but then it got kinda boring after the 3rd day. There just wasn´t alot of English speaking people around, but I did have my Rosie and I went back and ...
Rio de Janiero, Brazil nerdelyi... my sparce understanding of portuguese are actually proving to be a wonderful match :) i have a feeling our smiles will get us far around these parts. the weather is amazing- a little humid and about 80ish degrees. we´re going to head out to explore the beach in a little bit and maybe invest in teeny weenie brazilian bikinis (or maybe not...we shall see how adventurous we really are- haha). know that i am thinking of you all. boa tarde a beijos, (good afternoon and kisses!)
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil mowgli... water with people flipping out. We were starting to wonder what was going to happen next. Well, what was next was my LEAST favorite bus ride. Sick, fever, headache, hungry, on a bus taking curves and starts and stops (Ken had puked on the way here), raining, traffic, police search. Took like 4 hourse longer going back to Rio. Very warm welcome back. The atmosphere has definitely picked up. The place is bumpin, everybody getting ready for Revillion ...
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil southwickchris... the Argentines, Chileans or Bolivians is also not out of the question. I had a job interview today. I think it went rather well! I am not going to jinx myself by talking to much about it. I'll fill you in if/when I get it, okay? ;) My life looks like it's on the up-and-up again. Although it's been raining enough to make Noah uneasy in his grave...AND I have a leaking kitchen and bathroom ceiling...life is ok. Everything happens for a reason, right? :D
Macaé, Brazil athena... who still don't have a proper water supply, or the 60 million who remain without sewers. Are they part of the Landless Rural Workers' Movement, living in hovels alongside the road as they fight for land reform? Or are they now earning enough to rent a humble dwelling in the village - maybe one with a satellite dish proudly displayed on top of the thatch or red tile roof? If only we were more articulate in Portuguese so that we could get some answers to our questions. Our ...
Porto de Galinhas, Brazil thymeoff... without a person. We couldn`t see somebody, but then there came a girl and another boy. The girl seams to be the girlfriend of the missed surfer. The boy ran into the water and tried to help him. They told us that it is sometimes difficult to leave the water, because of the currents. But they were ...
Porto de Galinhas, Brazil rese_ma... the sand, and two dusty, rocky peaks challenged from the south. The water was as blue as Frank Sinatra's left eye. All right, I thought. Time to do my first snorkelling of the trip! I entered the wild waters. I only had time to put on one of my flippers, though, before I was hit by a 30-foot tidal wave! Not really, but the wave might-as-well have been that tall, because the results were devastating. The five-foot wave swept me to shore, and ...
