... like? I have no friggin' idea. I've been trying to research it on the internet but have come up with very little as to what kind of life we'll be living there. Which is one of the reasons I've decided to revive the travel blog and maybe somewhere down the line, someone else is moving to Salalah and will actually have some idea of what it's like before they get there. Here's hoping it's good!

-M
Fukuoka, Fukuoka, Japan swami_worldtrav... has one of the more posh unit bathrooms--a ceramic tile interior, separate faucets for sink and tub/shower (instead of the usual faucet that swings), and a relatively low step into the room. By the way, adjacent to the train station, there is a bus station which has got to be the narrowest bus station in any major city, and there is a supersize Daiso 100-yen store above the bus station.

*Apologies to Lipps, Inc.
Hakata, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan rbfromnjKARATSU

There is next to nothing in Saga, but it's a convenient rail connection to the pottery towns I want to visit. There is also a recently-built Comfort Hotel right next to the train station, and the rooms are very pleasant and an excellent value. I took the train from Saga to Karatsu and back this afternoon. Karatsu is an old town with a long tradition of making rough, non-symmetrical pottery, some of which looks like it was ...
Saga, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan rbfromnj... the other stuff was!! But glad we did as it was the best noodle soup we have had all trip. Then we decided to be brave and order some other little bits - Rob ordered some chicken skewers, which although this is what it was, we had no idea what part of the chicken it was from as it was hard and crunchy!!!! Lesley then pointed at a few things that could not be identified but thought it might be ...

Fukuoka, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan linara... the Shinkansen with the Finnish guy from the Friendship Centre. We booked our seats, but decided to try our luck in getting some seats in the unreserved car first, which payed off. Because we have JR passes, and Charlotte and Angela travel free, we can only book 2 seats. 2 seats for 4 people and 4 bags on a train journey for several hours isnt pleasant. We found a block of 4 seats, which eventually turned into 6 a few stops down the line ...
Me estoy poniendo ...
Fukuoka, Japan doctorhugo... but by 7:15 my backpack was filled with the various items I thought I might need and we set off for Japan. We walked through Ewha Women's University and down a street torn apart by construction. The sidewalks had been pulled up and moved away. Some coarse cloth was set down upon the ground like a carpet rolled out for a beggar king. It had rained the night before and the ground was muddy beneath it. We reached the Ewha subway and made our way to the Seoul train station with only a few ...
Fukuoka, Japan jsc... That part was only a joke, but everything else was true. The way the buses get from that high 20 metre level back to the ground is simple. They built a long ramp, probably around 300 m long, that is passing along and behind the buildings, and angling towards the street level at about a 15degree slant. This way buses can go up and down at pretty high speeds and transport many thousands of people from the top of the roof to the street level.
