From there we headed to Sega 'Joypolis': an indoor amusement park (of sorts) and arcade. We went on a flight simulator where you fly the plane and we also renewed our rivalry at Air Hockey. I'm happy to report that I was triumphant (3 games to 1) and was duly crowned the "King of Osaka".

It was then time for dinner before going round on the huge Ferris Wheel on top of the Hep ...

Caught the monorail and train to Umeda station and went to the German Xmas markets. Came out of the huge Osaka Umeda station (wrong entrance) and had to walk a fair way to find our way. After the castle we headed over to Osaka's museum of history which was cool to see but we were disappointed that there were no explanations for anything in English whereas other museums we've been to usually do have English explanations. In the end it was still neat to see the artifacts that have been discovered over the centuries and it was kind of fun trying to imagine what they were used for. ...

... so many cute little ones in costume. Most rice planting is done by machine now, but these festivals carry on old traditions as blessings are offered for a successful growing season. The central stage in the field would later be the setting for dancing, ceremonial kendo fighting, etc., but unfortunately we had to leave to catch the Bullet Train to head out to Shikoku for the weekend.
