Acapulco, Pacific Coast, Mexico berri... br>The history of Acapulco (per the tour book), is a city of about 700,000 people. This became
a major port back in the 1500's due to the arrival of Hernan Cortez,
which at that time many treasures were shipped to Mexico City and on to Spain. After World War 2 this became a favorite
vacation spot.More to come!
Acapulco, Pacific Coast, Mexico berriHey!

I went to a big archeological site north of Mexico City called Teotihuacan, to help tear down the rest of the ruins by walking on them. We were not many tourists there, because it´s low season right now I guess. It´s not often you wish you were surrounded by more tourists but when hawker outnumber it´s preys (tourists) 3:1 you get the eyes of every single hawker on you. To Mexican hawkers credit they usually walk away after just one "no". <br ...
Acapulco, Pacific Coast, Mexico orion.a... advertised rate; I got a room for 200 Peso. Other hotels looked just as good on this stretch but I found it hard to pick a single fault with Hotel Villa Roxana.

Through the same gates as Villa Roxana is Hotel Villa Nirvana. This has the advantage of rooms facing the ocean but the rooms are no better and come at a higher cost.
Pie de la Cuesta, Guerrero, Mexico amazingjourneys... their money on junk in the fort store!!??? Into the air conditioned loveliness made by GM and we are off to the "market"! Break neck speed through the narrow streets of "old" Acapulco....the place the ship excursion guy told us not to go to on his boring television channel on the ship! Oh well...it's all part of the adventure. We finally pull over and "triple" park on the street crawling with cars and people....some eyeing us closely enough that my ...
Acapulco, Mexico tomtravel... me that the municipality was in the process of upgrading the sewage system. Jack kindly invited me over for dinner. Laurent, a Québecois who was parked next to him, supplied the wine. The two old boys talked while I, in the main listened. Laurent was a lovely man, a retired banker who was still coming to terms with losing his wife to cancer. Jack, on the other hand, was a complete rogue. He hailed originally from San Diego, California and had spent the best part of ...
Acapulco, Mexico fintan... my swirling mezcal nausea. I asked a local lady for directions to the first-class bus terminal, but the trouble is that sometimes Mexicans are so nice and just don´t want you to get ripped off in their town that sometimes you just can´t get it through that, yes, you want to spend 80% more on a bus just so you don´t have to sit in urine amongst poultry. So she would only direct me to the economico bus stop, because the other one was ´mas demasio´ (too expensive ...
Acapulco and Puerto Escondido, Mexico kyliefDane and I wanted to spend a few relaxing days on a beach, but it turns out all the good ones were a lengthy bus ride from Xalapa. Surprisingly, we were only a few hours from Acapulco. I haven't had a chance to update because we spent our time on the beach instead of in an internet cafe. And since I've been home, I've been busy with real life once ...
