    Casual start to the morning with a croissant and coffee for breakfast, followed by 6 hours walking around Old Town Genoa. The sights around the upper end are much better than the port, we sat on the steps of a church for half an hour and did some people watching.

    ... 11.00 am and a short 100 m walk from the station and we are at Hotel Europa, undoubtedly the smallest lift I've ever been in. Off load the bags and walk down to Porto Vecchio for a stroll along the front.

    They have a replica of the Spanish Galleon "Neptune" sitting in the port, apparently built in 1985 for Roman Polanski's film Pirates. Not much happening on a Sunday afternoon here. Late lunch ...

    ... were too quiet. Duly noted. Julie took us on a tour of the main sites, the harbour, various churches etc. Can read a map the DJ! We didn't head inside the churches of course as we have been very good girls and didn't think the confessional needed to be worried by our tales of eating too much and the occasional vino.     Last day and Chrissi packs while I run up town to do a few last minute things ...i walk her to the bus to farewell my fello traveller ...she's off to Barcelona ...then Paris ...go girl !! Then...     ... at Genova station , our train for Santa Margarita is delayed by 100 minutes. Our host from Hotel Villa Anita is waiting for us at the station we hit the showers ASAP to rid us of public transport grime. We are exhausted ,we have dinner at a recommended local , Garry had the spaghetti with baby clams and I had fish with wine ,lemon & parsley . Tomorrow we plan to catch a ferry to Portofino ...
