... baby on the way. We stopped at a taverna by an amazing beach. The food was very average, the beer was good, the water looked several shades of turquoise & quite choppy, the sand was golden and Lance got a rusty nail through his foot. Fourth of July In Crete with no fire works :( Today we drove from Chania to Heraklion to our new hotel. The drive took two hour through some beautiful country side that reminded us of California, but without all of the people. Once we got into Heraklion we saw a man pull off a no sign and start yelling at another man in Greek (referendum vote is tomorrow). ... at night, the air was filled not with the sounds of commerce and groups of tourists, but with the authentic cacophony of Greek locals sitting around outside, making conversation as the day draws down. Kids, too. Kids in Greece stay out late. Surprisingly late. The result of a dearth of electronics and limited cable/internet I'm sure.

The couple next to me is now arguing about Santorini.
