Destination 396

[Ferry]

According to the fact, that I already have travelled around Eastern Europe at the beginning of this worldtrip, there was little reason - or better said, little money left - to do it again. So it was planed to take one of those many ferrys connecting almost every corner of the european coast of the Mediterranean Sea.<br ...
Chios, Northeast Aegean Islands, Greece pajas... to eat which served steak, and it was an expensive meal but one of the best steaks I've ever had. Chris said the same of hers. We had asked if they had any amaretto for Christine, but alas no. However, when we’d finished the meal the waiter brought out a couple of crème de menthe liquors on the house, so that just topped it off nicely.

http://www.umitevotel.co m
Alacati, Izmir, Turkey andyb63ukToday we piled into a mini van and took off to explore the island from which my family comes from. Chios is a fairly large island here in Greece and it is located aprox 8 nautical miles from the west coast of Turkey. The island has a rich history of which played a pivotal role in my ancestors life. Chios is the only island in which the Mastique tree produces a hardened resin. Mastique trees in other areas of the island and in other countries produce a soft ...
Chios, Greece jgrivettiTrying to get stuff from my Mac to an internet cafe PC! First try froze the sclerotic PC. Actually, I'll have to go back and convert the text to .pdf to transfer, I guess. Or, go on to a hotel or pension where my Mac does interface with the wireless modem, as in the present case it does not. Stay tuned.
Chios, Northeast Aegean Islands, Greece oldrover... rather than the Turkish coast. After getting back that night we had a couple more days in Mitilini before heading South to Plomarion. We last visited here in June, on our way north. It is a pleasant and attractive small fishing town where we knew we would have to wait a few days while strong winds blew themselves out. We duly moored up, settled down and got a quiet night's sleep. However, the following morning, as the winds increased, an unpleasant ...
Chios, Northeast Aegean Islands, Greece chickensafloat... is the nicest hostel/pansyion we have stayed during our travels. The owner, Don Rodgers, has created a beautiful place and he is incredibly hospitable. Melanie and I have a great view of the harbor and the sea breezes are great. UPDATE: On our second day, we rented a car and drove around the island. Visited a beautiful black pebble beach and two ...
Chios, Northeast Aegean Islands, Greece sproutfamily... all hope of courting melanoma. Back to Chios 24km away. Approach the town from the south and you're on a relatively wide one way avenue along the seafront. Approach from the north and you're instantly swallowed by a maze of narrow one way streets clogged with cars, motorcycles and pedestrians with a death wish. After running the gauntlet, we park along the road out of town and walk back in, Bella to browse the shops, me to find an ATM and tap this entry.
Chios, Greece peyton... with infections -- we couldn't really follow the details -- but he has come to this place to find relief no doctor can give him. We wish him luck and return to the sunny square outside. We take the long way back to Chios, climbing high into the mountains where each curve brings a new exquisite panorama of cliffs dropping into an impossibly blue sea. Today is Tuesday. The car is ours until 10 tonight and it's time to head north to the place according to legend that Homer was born.
Chios, Greece peytonHappy belated 4th of July! Hope everyone had a good one yesterday. I didn't get to see any fireworks, but did get to a barbeque hosted by Jannis, the owner of the house we're renting. A lot of lamb, ouzo, and good conversation were had. He's mastered everyone else's name - but somehow I've become known as 'Jennifer Aniston'. While I don't see the resemblance, she is ...
Chios, Greece natalie.b... mobility not withstanding. And as this could be my last entry from Greece (I might head through Bulgaria to Croatia instead), all I can say is that Greese is a strange and diverse part of the world that has to be seen to be believed! Next entry -> Dawn service at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli Old Rossian Proverb He who plays with fire will eventually burn his wick.
