... that has many tourists and campers. There are very few around now since it is after season. This makes a good time to visit except some things are closed. There are many old houses. Often the houses are painted a dark gold color. Most of the houses are sided and the siding runs vertical not horizontal.

... we nick-named the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. The lighthouse was a couple of hundred years old and made of stones, with a conical roof. The iron fire bucket was hung on the end of a long, movable pole, allowing it to be swung in different directions to warn ships of the rocky shore.

... albeit with a big patch down the side, but looks pretty damn good as a stop-gap repair, and they will do a full repair when we return it, but that entails a complete new side panel...
Also, had a note from my daughter Charlotte who is doing a trip down the Rhine and Mosel rivers on cruise ship with her mum Gayle. Hope they had a good time - they both really deserve it, as they both have had to face some tough times.

... yesterday ( Mon) where we had a personal conducted tour with Erika giving us the whole spiel in excellent English (she works there) and we are off to stay on a little island for a couple of days ...Can't think of the name because they are all unpronounceable to me, but I read that it is a rocky moraine island about 7km long, and not too far from here. More later.
So, that brings us up to date I think.
... br> We camped close by in the forest(carpeted with ripe blueberry bushes) hoping to get our tax refund cashed out from an office which we believed was in the tourist info centre just near the border. Fronting up the next morning-we got our money without any problems, as well as taking the opportunity to "purchase" a shower, at $6AUD each!! Welcome to Norway!! We left though extremely relieved, we'd gone the extra mile to get the tax refund!
