Santa Elena (Monteverde), Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica farrahfig... we won't say anything about the score, the entertainment factor was great. There were plenty of laughs! Niamh was our girl of the match. All the girls "played" and did their best!<br>The work progressed well today with lots of trainee block layers among us. The mud started flying while we were cleaning up and everyone got very muddy and of course the water started flowing too. Don't think Luis was too happy seeing 14 mucky wet bodies loading in to his van!
san ramon, Costa Rica gccostarica...
Alajuela, Province of Alajuela, Costa Rica sara-linda... much so we left and went to the thermal river which is heated by the volcano. it was kind of scary as it was afast flowing river through these tunnels adn it was dark and we had no lights and he just pointed into the darkness and said go down there, which we did. u had to climb over a litel wall adn then all the water was pooled up behind it so u could just lie around and watch the steam rise. straight to bed after that ...
Santa Elena, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica smiley_kab... very nice, he guarantees to see lava or you go again for free. We did get to see lava both nights however just through peeks in the cloud cover. The volcano top is almost always cloud covered especially with the rain we've been having. It was really a pretty amazing site. We could see the stream of lava flowing and pulsating through the clouds and lava rocks rolling down the volcano while they burned out. Mr. Lava Lava also took us to ...
Fortuna, Province of Alajuela, Costa Rica gra8fulIt's been a while so I thought a quick update might be in order. Also, comments have been received from some quarters complaining about the "love-in" being conducted by me and Debbie on this blog. To protect the more sensitive amongst you, I will refrain from such sentimentalities in future...maybe! Moved on again last week to working with the birds. They are about the only animal here that it's possible to get really ...
Ciudad Quesada, Costa Rica dingleq... country that day and buses were ridiculously full. We managed to escape being seriously scammed [arnaquer] in San Jose, where locals wanted to charge us $100 to get to La Fortuna, when in the end we did it for $5! Anyway, moved away from the tropical humid Carribean Coast to a more mountainy. wet and colder part of the country, home of volcanoes and cloud forests. We stayed in a hostel run by a local who had named himself Mr Lava Lava (think Mr Lover ...
Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica nrt_coulton... that is, the red eyed tree frog, walking right in front of the glass. These are pretty big frogs and quite gorgeous. In addition to their red eyes and toes they have outlandish blue and yellow colouring down their flank and legs. It was also impressive to see how many of the frogs, even quite large ones, were quite happy sleeping on a vertical surface as some of the red eyed and flying frogs did, and also how compactly they can huddle their limbs together so that ...
Santa Elena, Costa Rica mlc... beside where the man went. I had my small backpack with me and held my breath as I went in. At least there was a door. I just thought to myself how lucky I was that this was even here and tried to take it all in as an interesting exp. Hence...my details about it. Wait until I get to India that is when the bathroom stories will be epic. ha. I waltzed back to the baggage opening process and was so happy about my success finding the bathroom that I got stood in front of the ...
Alajuela, Costa Rica mlillie... here. It was great from our hotel, but it would have been better on the hike. At the hot baths we had a little problem with the bartenders overcharging. My work is never finished, so I went to the manager and explained the situation. It's really hard to get machistas to take you seriously when you are trying to argue your point in a bikini. I tried my hardest to get them to look at my face, and they seemed very concerned with the fact that 3 or 4 of my ...
