I woke up this morning as the Silhouette began docking in Genoa, Italy. It was a beautiful morning. Genoa is an ancient city built into the Italian mountainside. It was sort of reminiscent of Monte Carlo, just on a much smaller scale.

... this place years ago. We normally meet up with them at the meditation retreat Paul does in Perugia and they usually go to Vernazza after the retreat….this year they decided to come before the retreat. ... Manarola, qu'on avait juste traversé en train. David n'avait pas payé 5 euros pour avoir la carte permettant d'emprunter le chemin des cinque terre, mais avec un peu de négociation, ils l'ont laissé passer.

Contrairement aux autres sections du chemin des cinq villages, il n'y avait pas de longs escaliers, et il n'y avait qu'une demie heure de marche. On aurait pu se douter qu'avec un nom aussi romantique, on n'allait pas suer à grosses gouttes sur ce sentier.
