... Segovia. It was just sunset when we arrived, the low light stunning on the roman aqueduct (at almost 100 feet high, with more than 150 arches, built almost 2000 years ago with no mortar! it carried water for the town until 50 years ago!) We strolled through town to the Plaza Mayor and enjoyed being part of locals enjoying their town after the departure of tourist buses. ... special walks - at a price. Another camper was telling us about a colony of bee-eaters nearby. Apparently Great Bustards are common out on the open meseta!
So far we have seen, without moving from the pitch - 5 hoopoes, loads of golfinches, greenfinches, linnets ...

... exposed as the plateau this morning. There were times I thought I'd be blown into the canal which looked very very cold; not my idea of fun! By the time we arrived at Fromista we were all exhausted. Thank goodness for small mercies when we discovered our hotel was not far from the canal! ... down was wide and had good traction. It was still a test for the knees. At the top before huge descent we had the "Oh ****" moment that I had seen in oh her documentaries.
