... Storsjon. We saw fresh snow on the mountains towards Norway! (This is midsummer!)

Then we travelled to Trangsviken, to be welcomed by Rob and Rob's camping friends from Hungary last year, Julia and Eskil Pihl. Camped in their yard, in a small village Trangsviken, not far from the lake. Wonderful dinner on ...

Asa had taken us out here, but Lotta headed off another path, and soon we were skirting the base of a mountain, working our way through gullies and valleys, feeling very much the Arctic explorers. We strike off the path for lunch, and head across the gully, challenging Jim & Lauren’s Nordic skiing abilities. At least ...

... on the Red slopes !

We head up the VM6 chair, and do a few runs down the side ( not Stortloppet ! ) but have to admit to getting quickly bored, as the difference between enjoying a beautiful, groomed, undulating ski run on skis, and how that experience changes on a snowboard comes to the fore. Are By is very much a skiers mountain, and in fact is where various World Cup Events are held. In learning to ski, I’ve already noticed what is great for skiers is ...
